Senior Test Engineer (80-100%)

- Location: Lucerne Region, Switzerland (Hybrid)

- Working Model: 1-2 days onsite per week, remainder remote

- Start Date: Latest October 2026

- Duration: 6-9 months

- Languages: German (fluent, mandatory), English (professional working proficiency)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer to play a key role in ensuring and continuously improving software quality within an agile development environment.

This position focuses primarily on hands-on manual software testing (70-80%), including end-to-end testing, exploratory testing, defect analysis, and quality assurance activities. Test automation experience is welcome but is not the primary focus of the role.

Responsibilities

Manual Testing & Quality Assurance

- Perform hands-on manual testing of software applications

- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end tests

- Conduct exploratory testing to identify defects, risks, and usability issues

- Analyse business and technical requirements and derive test cases and test scenarios

- Create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test documentation

- Identify, analyse, document, and track software defects

- Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing before releases

- Ensure high-quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle

- Collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, product owners, and other stakeholders

Test Strategy & Continuous Improvement

- Define and maintain appropriate test coverage

- Contribute to quality metrics and quality assurance processes

- Support the optimisation of testing methodologies and tools

- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and quality initiatives

Test Automation (Secondary Focus)

- Support existing test automation activities

- Create and maintain automated test cases where appropriate

- Contribute to CI/CD quality validation processes

Required Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

- Higher education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable qualification

- ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent

- Several years of professional experience in software testing

- Strong hands-on experience in:

- Manual Testing

- Functional Testing

- Integration Testing

- System Testing

- End-to-End Testing

- Regression Testing

- Exploratory Testing

- Defect Management

- Quality Assurance

- Experience creating and executing structured test cases and test plans

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Good understanding of Agile software development methodologies

- Basic to intermediate experience in test automation

- Programming or scripting knowledge in Python, Java, C++, or a comparable language

- Fluent German (mandatory)

- Good English communication skills

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

- Structured and analytical working style

- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
