Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and execution of complex transportation and roadway infrastructure projects across South Florida.
This senior-level position is ideal for a Florida-licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with extensive roadway engineering experience and a strong understanding of FDOT standards, local municipal requirements, and transportation infrastructure practices.
The successful candidate will provide technical and project leadership, manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with municipalities and regulatory agencies, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee roadway design and construction projects from planning through completion.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, subconsultants, designers, and technical staff.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, contracts, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with FDOT standards and specifications, the Florida Green Book, AASHTO guidelines, and applicable local regulations.
- Coordinate with Palm Beach County, Broward County, Miami-Dade County, municipalities, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.
- Review and approve roadway, drainage, traffic, and related engineering plans and construction documents.
- Oversee permitting activities and coordinate with relevant regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering and project teams.
- Manage client relationships and participate in project meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- Support contract negotiations, project proposals, budgeting, and business development activities.
- Monitor project performance and proactively address technical, scheduling, budgetary, and contractual issues.
- Apply knowledge of traffic signal design to roadway and transportation projects.
- Ensure projects meet quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Florida.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in roadway/civil engineering, including experience with FDOT and local municipalities.
- Demonstrated experience delivering transportation projects in Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County.
- Strong knowledge of FDOT design standards, specifications, permitting procedures, and construction requirements.
- Proven experience managing large-scale roadway and infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge of traffic signal design.
- Working knowledge of OpenRoads or comparable roadway design and drafting software.
- Strong understanding of roadway design, drainage, permitting, and construction documentation.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working directly with FDOT and South Florida municipalities.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, and subconsultants.
- Familiarity with local transportation planning and infrastructure requirements.
- Experience with project proposals, client development, and contract negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
