Senior Full-Stack Engineer | Auckland, hybrid | TypeScript, React, AI
A fast-growing company is hiring a senior engineer to help rebuild a professional services category that most of the industry still run by hand, through spreadsheets, inboxes and people manually pushing paperwork between parties.
You would join a small, sharp engineering team building the software that replaces that entirely.
The platform spans document handling, automated review and feedback loops, and integrations into external systems, all on a modern JavaScript stack.
A significant part of the mandate is applied AI work, working out where language models actually change outcomes, carrying that thinking into the engineering team's own internal practices as the company scales.
The data running through this platform is sensitive, so a core part of the role sits alongside the CTO on how information is segmented across users and jurisdictions, and on the judgement calls around what should and should not ever be visible to a model.
You would also work directly with the operational and subject matter experts, shaping how the workflows behave.
Senior Engineer Responsibilities
- Owning delivery across the stack, from interface through to backend and the third-party systems the platform depends on.
- Partnering with the CTO on data segregation, access control and the boundaries around AI usage for a system holding highly sensitive personal information.
- Running applied research into where large language models genuinely improve the product, then building that into both the client facing platform and the team's own tooling.
- Working directly with the non-engineering side of the business, the people who actually understand the domain, to design solutions rather than implement someone else's.
Senior Engineer Requirements
- Software experience inside SaaS or growth stage companies with a track record of owning features end to end, in situations where mistakes carried real weight.
- Strong command of TypeScript and React, with real exposure to AI or LLM tooling rather than surface level familiarity.
- Someone who is energised by ambiguity and cares as much about how a feature actually performs for the person using it as whether it technically works.
- Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical people alike
