Quantum Scientist - Experimental Physics

We are recruiting experimental quantum scientists for an international quantum-technology company expanding its technical operations in Japan.
The role combines hands-on work with a sophisticated experimental quantum platform, system development and operational responsibility. You will work closely with colleagues in Japan and overseas to improve performance, reliability and capability, while helping enable ambitious customer and research programmes.
The role
- Develop, calibrate and operate an advanced experimental quantum system
- Integrate and test new capabilities across experimental hardware, control and software workflows
- Improve system reliability, performance, automation and operational readiness
- Diagnose technical issues and drive structured troubleshooting
- Work with technical users and collaborators to understand requirements and translate them into development priorities
- Collaborate with international teams across experimental science, engineering and software
About you
- PhD in experimental AMO physics or a closely related discipline
- Experience building or operating advanced atomic-physics, ion-trap or other experimental quantum systems
- A strong experimental research record, demonstrated through publications or equivalent technical contributions
- Programming ability and confidence working with experimental control or data systems
- Clear communicator, comfortable collaborating with both technical colleagues and external users
- Experience mentoring scientists or engineers would be advantageous
