Experimental Quantum Physicist

We are supporting a rapidly growing quantum-hardware company developing advanced experimental quantum systems.
This is a hands-on build and integration role for a physicist or engineer who enjoys solving practical problems in the laboratory and turning complex scientific systems into robust, repeatable technology. You will work closely with research, engineering and software teams throughout the full development cycle.
The role
- Build, integrate and test complex experimental hardware systems
- Work with precision optical, laser, RF, vacuum and control-system technologies
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting and performance improvement activities
- Develop and maintain tools for data acquisition, analysis and experimental automation
- Collaborate across physics, hardware and software teams to deliver reliable system performance
About you
- PhD preferred in physics, engineering, applied physics or a related discipline
- Several years of relevant hands-on experimental, laboratory or R&D experience
- Strong practical background in complex optics- or physics-led experimental systems
- Coding ability, ideally including Python and Linux
- Experience with experimental data analysis and automated measurement systems
- Comfortable owning technical problems independently in a fast-paced R&D environment
