Commercial HVAC Service Mechanic

Our client is seeking an accomplished commercial HVAC professional to support complex facilities throughout New York City. This is an opportunity for a seasoned technician to take ownership of challenging service work across a diverse equipment portfolio, solve problems independently in the field, and help keep critical building systems performing at their best. Focus:
- Take ownership of advanced commercial HVAC service assignments across New York City, from diagnosis through repair and return to operation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control related problems using field measurements, drawings, and equipment documentation.
- Service a varied equipment mix that may include chillers, boilers, rooftop systems, air handling equipment, pumps, VRF systems, and ventilation assets.
- Complete planned maintenance and system checks that improve reliability, efficiency, and equipment life.
- Coordinate with controls professionals, dispatch, facility contacts, and other trades when a repair requires cross functional support.
- Record service activity, parts and materials, labor details, and equipment conditions clearly and accurately.
- Support rotating emergency coverage, including evening, overnight, or weekend assignments when scheduled.
- Perform field work safely in active facilities, including rooftops, mechanical spaces, ladders, and other demanding service environments.
Skill Set:
- Bring at least 10 years of hands on commercial HVAC installation, service, and repair experience, or journey level standing through the UA Local 638 apprenticeship pathway.
- Demonstrate broad command of commercial HVAC equipment and related controls, backed by trade school training or a recognized HVAC credential.
- Hold EPA Section 608 certification and be prepared to have FDNY G-60, FDNY F-60, and NYC SST-62 credentials in place before your first day.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for travel between service assignments.
- Read wiring diagrams, equipment schematics, technical drawings, and service information confidently in the field.
- Use sound judgment, clear communication, and disciplined documentation while working independently at customer facilities.
- Be physically prepared to move tools and equipment, climb ladders, and work at height or in confined mechanical areas as required.
- Refrigeration credentials and practical exposure to building automation interfaces, VFDs, boilers, chillers, rooftop units, or VRF systems are valued.
