IT Consultant V – Cloud, Azure, Databricks
A senior-level IT Consultant serves as a technical expert supporting cloud platform engineering, Azure services, and data analytics initiatives. The role focuses on architecture consulting, platform enablement, project delivery, and product ownership for Databricks and Azure capabilities. The position works closely with application teams, engineering, operations, IT stakeholders, and vendors to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable cloud solutions from project initiation through go-live.
Work Environment
This is a flexible position that may require the selected candidate to work from an assigned office in Greensboro, NC, at least part of each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide early-stage architecture consulting and technical guidance for Azure platform capabilities.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to application and project teams from intake through implementation and go-live.
- Partner with application teams, engineering, operations, platform teams, and vendors to deliver required cloud capabilities.
- Support the development and roadmap alignment of new Azure and Databricks services.
- Drive delivery schedules and coordinate platform environment availability based on application requirements.
- Provide technical direction for complex projects and specialized technology solutions.
- Develop or oversee business, functional, and non-functional requirements across multiple business domains.
- Apply structured requirements-gathering methodologies to identify and document enterprise needs.
- Develop and document business cases covering costs, benefits, ROI, and total cost of ownership.
- Evaluate current-state processes and systems against desired future-state capabilities.
- Assess how requirements affect upstream and downstream applications, systems, and solution components.
- Provide technical insight and recommendations to senior leaders and business stakeholders.
- Participate in solution-design sessions and help translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Identify data, services, and platform capabilities needed to address business and technical requirements.
- Evaluate third-party technology vendors when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, standardization, and technology adoption.
- Develop and maintain standardized tools, templates, methodologies, and processes.
- Promote scalable cloud practices and continuous improvement across enterprise technology environments.
- Coordinate resources, monitor project progress, manage risks, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing and professional development.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT consulting, business analysis, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Strong ability to lead complex technical projects and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, enterprise IT environments, and data analytics technologies.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project-management skills.
- Experience mentoring team members and working effectively across organizational boundaries.
