We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the Quality Control department at a precast concrete manufacturing facility in Greenfield, Indiana.
This position is responsible for ensuring materials, production practices, and finished products meet design requirements, job specifications, company standards, and applicable industry standards. The Quality Control Manager will lead an established QC team and work closely with production, engineering, and plant leadership to maintain high quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong precast or prestressed concrete background, PCI and ACI certifications, concrete technical expertise, and proven people-management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control department and approximately 11 QC team members.
- Manage, train, develop, and support QC supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
- Ensure production practices comply with established quality systems and applicable PCI, ACI, and ASTM standards.
- Maintain working knowledge of PCI MNL 116 and 117 requirements.
- Review job specifications and ensure quality requirements are understood and followed throughout production.
- Oversee concrete testing, mix design, optimization, qualification, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate advanced concrete and concrete-material testing as required.
- Oversee inspection processes for internal and external steel hardware.
- Support Quality Assurance activities and PCI audits.
- Lead corrective actions and continuous-improvement initiatives resulting from quality findings and audits.
- Organize and analyze quality data, trends, costs, reports, and audit findings.
- Partner with production, engineering, and plant management to resolve quality, production, process, and efficiency issues.
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional experience within precast or prestressed concrete.
- Current or previous PCI certification required.
- Current or previous ACI certification required.
- Significant people-management and leadership experience within a relevant quality or concrete environment.
- Strong knowledge of concrete testing, mix design, mix qualification, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements, specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Approximately 4–5+ years of management experience.
- Higher-level PCI and/or ACI certifications.
- Material testing and laboratory experience.
- Engineering or advanced technical quality experience within precast concrete.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Fully on-site in Greenfield, Indiana.
- Monday through Friday.
- Approximately 3:00 AM start time.
- Typical end time ranges from approximately 12:00–2:00 PM depending on workload.
- Occasional Saturday work may be required.
- Position includes time in an industrial/production environment and may require climbing stairs or ladders, walking throughout the facility, working outdoors, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Compensation & Relocation
- Target base salary of $100,000–$120,000, with potential flexibility for exceptionally qualified candidates.
