Role Description The Software Engineer (All Levels) will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable features for PPLIED’s hiring platform. This full-time role is hybrid, based in San Francisco, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and design teams to refine requirements, implementing clean and efficient code, reviewing peer code, and improving system performance and reliability. The engineer will help integrate third-party services, optimize matching algorithms, and participate in agile ceremonies such as stand-ups and sprint planning. They will also contribute to technical documentation, production support, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in core software engineering disciplines such as programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
- Experience with web application development, including front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar) and back-end services (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or comparable technologies).
- Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL), with the ability to design, implement, and optimize data models and service integrations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, containers, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and logging.
- Comfort working in agile environments, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with attention to code quality, security, and performance.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work inclusively with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in HR tech or marketplace platforms is a plus.
