The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Building Automation Specialist / Senior GA Engineer to take ownership of Building Automation (Gebäudeautomation) within a technically complex engineering environment in Germany.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who wants more than simply joining an established team.
The company currently has no dedicated in-house Building Automation planning function, meaning you will have the opportunity to become the technical specialist in this area and help build the function from the ground up.
You will have significant technical autonomy, influence how GA planning is structured and delivered, and work closely with other engineering disciplines including HVAC, electrical engineering and building services.
What You'll Do
- Take technical ownership of Building Automation / MSR planning and engineering
- Develop concepts and technical solutions for building automation systems
- Plan and specify automation and control systems for technically complex buildings and facilities
- Define control concepts, automation requirements and system architecture
- Develop and review functional descriptions, specifications and planning documentation
- Coordinate Building Automation requirements with HVAC, mechanical, electrical and other TGA disciplines
- Support the selection and specification of automation and BMS components
- Coordinate with external suppliers, system integrators and specialist contractors
- Support projects through implementation, commissioning and handover
- Review technical documentation and ensure solutions meet project and operational requirements
- Act as the internal technical point of contact for Building Automation
- Help establish and develop the company's internal GA planning standards, processes and capabilities
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in Building Automation, MSR or BMS engineering.
You will ideally have:
- Several years of professional experience in Building Automation / Gebäudeautomation
- Strong experience in GA/MSR planning, engineering or project execution
- A good understanding of HVAC controls and technical building services
- Experience developing automation concepts, specifications or functional descriptions
- Experience coordinating technical solutions across multiple engineering disciplines
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of technically complex topics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A structured and practical approach to engineering
- Experience working with external suppliers or system integrators
- Experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, laboratory, healthcare or other technically demanding environments is highly advantageous
- A degree, technical qualification or equivalent professional experience in automation, electrical engineering, building services engineering, MSR or a related discipline
Technical Background
Experience with some of the following would be advantageous:
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Gebäudeleittechnik (GLT)
- MSR / Mess-, Steuerungs- und Regelungstechnik
- DDC / PLC-based control systems
- HVAC / HLK automation
- BACnet
- Modbus
- KNX
- Siemens or other major BMS/automation platforms
- SCADA or building management interfaces
You do not need experience with every technology listed. Strong practical Building Automation experience is more important than matching every individual technology.

Location
The primary location is Braunschweig.
However, the company is open to considering candidates based in Hamburg or Berlin for the right profile, offering additional flexibility around location.
Language
Professional fluency in German is required, as you will work closely with German-speaking stakeholders, engineering teams and project partners.
Good English skills are advantageous.
