Role: Asset Recovery & Investigations Specialist / Senior Asset Protection & Recovery Officer

About the Role:
We are assisting our client source an experienced investigator to lead complex device recovery operations and dismantle organised theft syndicates.
This role sits at the intersection of field intelligence, law enforcement liaison, and forensic investigation, requiring a candidate who can turn intelligence into actionable operations and legal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Syndicate & Network Investigations: Identify, track, and disrupt organised criminal networks involved in the theft, illicit reselling, and trafficking of proprietary devices and network assets.
- Law Enforcement Liaison: Act as the primary operational link with the South African Police Service (SAPS), specialised units (e.g., Hawks/SAPS Crime Intelligence), and private security partners to execute raids, arrests, and asset recoveries.
- Field & Forensic Operations: Conduct on-the-ground investigations, evidentiary gathering, chain-of-custody management, and docket preparation for criminal prosecution.
- Intelligence & Analytics: Leverage internal device telemetry, geospatial data, and informant networks to map theft hot spots and criminal syndicates.
- Process & Risk Mitigation: Recommend operational controls and security enhancements to prevent asset leakage across supply chain and distribution channels.
Experience:
- Field Experience: Minimum 5+ years in criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, or complex asset recovery within SAPS, specialised law enforcement units, or corporate risk environments.
- Track Record: Proven history of breaking organised syndicates and managing criminal dockets through to conviction.
- Technical Aptitude: Understanding of technology asset tracking, IMEI/MAC tracking methodologies, and digital evidence handling.
- Network: Established, active network within SAPS, criminal justice structures, and industry crime-fighting forums.
- Legal Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act, Law of Evidence, and corporate asset recovery protocols.
- Mobility: Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct field operations at short notice.
