Legal & Compliance – Public Markets
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Legal & Compliance professional to support a Public Markets investment team based in Singapore.
This role will work closely with investment professionals across the full investment lifecycle, providing practical legal and compliance guidance while ensuring that investment activities comply with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, investment mandates, and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support throughout the investment lifecycle, including legal due diligence, transaction execution, documentation, and post-investment matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate investment-related agreements, commercial contracts, and other legal documentation.
- Advise investment professionals on transaction structures, legal and regulatory risks, securities regulations, market conduct, governance, and related matters.
- Support investment compliance by monitoring investment guidelines, mandate restrictions, regulatory requirements, and pre- and post-trade activities.
- Maintain and oversee restricted lists, watch lists, conflict-management processes, and trade-surveillance procedures.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on investment activities.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and other professional advisers when required.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen legal and compliance processes, controls, and governance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related discipline.
- Ideally 3–5 years of relevant legal or legal and compliance experience supporting public-markets investment activities.
- Good understanding of securities regulations, investment documentation, fund structures, and public-markets transactions.
- Strong drafting, contract-review, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Commercially minded, detail-oriented, and able to provide practical advice in a fast-paced investment environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with investment and operational teams.
