Position Overview
We are seeking an innovative and business-savvy Senior AI Engineer to join an AI acceleration team focused on rapidly developing AI solutions for complex enterprise business problems.
The Senior AI Engineer will work closely with Underwriting and other business teams to understand workflows, identify opportunities for AI, and design and build functional prototypes, custom portals, multi-agent frameworks, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering and business strategy. Successful candidates will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills. Validated prototypes will ultimately be documented and transitioned to a downstream team for production implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build rapid AI prototypes, user-facing portals, multi-agent frameworks, and RAG architectures.
- Work directly with Underwriting and business teams to understand workflows, requirements, and operational challenges.
- Identify opportunities where AI can improve business efficiency and processes.
- Apply prompt engineering, embeddings, context management, and RAG techniques to develop scalable AI solutions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to accelerate prototype development.
- Work collaboratively with business partners, Tech Leads, Architects, and other engineers in Agile environments.
- Build adaptable prototypes within approximately 3–6 month development cycles.
- Document validated prototypes, prompt configurations, architectures, and technical approaches.
- Support smooth handoff of successful prototypes to downstream Industrialization Teams for production scaling.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality oversight to other team members.
- Participate in technical scoping, rapid-cycle sprints, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Adapt quickly to changing business requirements and technology needs.
- Support continuous improvement and innovation across AI development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in software engineering, systems design, or technical prototyping.
- Hands-on AI experience building AI-augmented tools, RAG pipelines, or prompt-based systems.
- Advanced experience with Prompt Engineering.
- Strong understanding of RAG architectures, embeddings, and context-window management.
- Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Strong ability to translate business problems into practical AI solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience working directly with non-technical business stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, cross-functional Agile environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to rapidly prototype solutions without being restricted to a specific technology stack.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Insurance or Financial Services industry experience highly preferred.
- Direct experience with Insurance Underwriting is a significant advantage.
- Experience with Python for AI development.
- Experience building multi-agent AI frameworks and custom business portals.
- Experience working with Gemini or other LLM platforms.
- Experience supporting the transition of AI prototypes into enterprise production environments.
