Position: Controller / Accounting Manager
Location: South San Jose, CA | Full-Time | Onsite

We’re looking for an experienced Controller / Accounting Manager to join a growing construction organization in South San Jose. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who understands construction accounting and can help strengthen financial processes, controls, reporting, and forecasting.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, banking, and reconciliations.
- Oversee construction job costing, financial reporting, year-end close, and journal entries.
- Manage billing, collections, deposits, lien releases, 1099s, and related documentation.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation, general liability, COIs, insurance renewals, and subcontractor compliance.
- Work with external CPAs on tax filings, audits, and year-end requirements.
- Monitor cash flow and support accurate financial forecasting and project profitability.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and accountability to the accounting team.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, processes, and reporting.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with strong construction/GC accounting exposure.
- Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior-level experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of job costing and construction financial processes.
- Experience with AP, AR, payroll, banking, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with lien releases, subcontractor insurance, COIs, and workers’ comp.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA or CPA is a plus, not required.
- Must be able to work onsite in South San Jose.
