Andalusia Country Club, a private equity golf club and luxury residential community located in La Quinta, California is looking for a full-time seasonal Golf Shop Assistant. As the energetic social hub of the Andalusia Community, the country club offers a truly private setting where members will enjoy camaraderie, relaxation, and sport with friends and family, and an incomparable level of attention and service from our staff. The community features an 18-hole Rees Jones Course, the only Rees Jones design in the Coachella Valley, 19,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor rooms, referred to as the Sports Club. Amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, seven lighted tennis courts, eight dedicated pickleball courts, a tennis & pickleball pro shop, Tapas Restaurant, and Lounge for dining and events along with a 25-meter pool with spacious sun decks. There is also a separate Golf Clubhouse which features the Golf Shop, dining is available on the Rees Jones Terrace as well as the Men’s and Women’s Locker rooms. The members are well-traveled, knowledgeable, and accustomed to high-quality food and service and personal attention in a private club setting.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Golf Shop Assistant supports the daily operation of the Golf Shop by providing exceptional Member and guest service, assisting with retail sales, tee time coordination, tournament and event support, merchandising, inventory organization, and maintaining a professional and welcoming Golf Shop environment consistent with Andalusia Country Club standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

· Provide outstanding Member and guest service with a polished, professional, and welcoming demeanor.

· Operate the point-of-sale (POS), tee time, and event registration systems accurately and efficiently.

· Maintain strong attention to detail with member charges, merchandise transactions, special orders, and daily shop procedures.

· Demonstrate knowledge of and enthusiasm for the game of golf, the Golf Shop, apparel lines, accessories, and club programming.

· Communicate clearly and promptly with Members, guests, and staff, including appropriate escalation of Member concerns or service opportunities.

· Work as a dependable team member with strong punctuality, follow-through, organization, and willingness to assist wherever needed.

· Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding Member information, staff matters, and club operations.

· Understand and perform the required role in emergency situations and follow all club safety procedures.

Member and Guest Service

· Welcome, check in, and register Members and guests for golf play in a professional and friendly manner.

· Assist Members and guests with golf shop purchases, tee time questions, event sign-ups, lesson inquiries, and general golf operation needs.

· Answer phone calls, take accurate messages, and communicate information promptly to the appropriate team member.

· Communicate Member issues or service opportunities to the Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Buyer/Merchandiser, or appropriate staff member for timely resolution.

Retail Sales, Merchandising and Inventory

· Inform Members and guests about apparel lines, accessories, equipment, promotions, special orders, and golf shop services.

· Arrange, display, fold, straighten, restock, and maintain Golf Shop merchandise throughout the day to uphold presentation standards.

· Assist the Golf Shop Buyer/Merchandiser with merchandising, receiving, tagging, pricing, transferring, and organizing soft goods.

· Assist with scheduled inventory, stock rotation, back-of-house organization, special orders, returns, exchanges, and Member follow-up.

Daily Golf Shop Operations

· Operate the POS system and process Member and guest charges, including merchandise, guest fees, and applicable golf-related transactions.

· Schedule tee times and assist with Member and guest questions regarding daily golf operations.

· Support opening and closing procedures as scheduled, including maintaining a clean, organized, and professional Golf Shop environment.

· Assist with daily communication between the Golf Shop, Outside Services, professional staff, and other club departments.

Tournament, Event and Programming Support

· Assist with tournament and event registration and communication with golf operations staff.

· Assist with special promotions, sales events, member events, ladies’ and men’s programming, couples events, and other golf-related functions as assigned.

· Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and event briefings as scheduled.

General Responsibilities

· Represent Andalusia Country Club standards of service, appearance, teamwork, and professionalism at all times.

· Complete other assignments requested by the Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Buyer/Merchandiser, or club leadership.

· Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers

· Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner

· Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

· Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent; some college preferred.

· Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, golf shop, or private-club experience preferred.

· Knowledge of golf, private-club etiquette, merchandise sales, and Member-service standards preferred.

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.

· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

· Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Jonas and Golf Genius.

· Ability to learn and properly use club technology systems, including POS, tee time, inventory, and event registration platforms.

· Valid driver’s license will be required if operating club vehicles or golf carts as part of assigned duties.

· Must comply with all Andalusia Country Club policies, safety standards, service expectations, and uniform/grooming standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Able to meet and perform the physical requirements of the position and work effectively in a private-club Golf Shop environment.

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, pulling, and repetitive motions.

· Must be able to lift and move merchandise, boxes, and golf shop supplies up to 30 pounds occasionally.

· May work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and seasonal temperatures.

· Schedule may require weekend, holiday, early morning, late afternoon, and peak-season availability.
