JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Steel Design Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team in Sharjah. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with strong exposure to steel structural design for building and industrial projects.
Candidates with previous UAE engineering consultancy experience and strong knowledge of structural analysis and design software will be preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures for building and industrial projects.
Design steel beams, columns, frames, trusses, platforms, canopies, mezzanines, industrial sheds and other structural steel elements.
Review architectural drawings, structural drawings, project specifications and design criteria.
Prepare structural design calculations, technical reports and engineering documentation.
Develop and review structural models and ensure design accuracy.
Perform design checks for strength, stability, serviceability, deflection and structural integrity.
Design and check steel connections including bolted and welded connections.
Analyse structures for gravity, wind, seismic and other applicable loading conditions.
Ensure structural designs comply with relevant international codes, standards and project requirements.
Prepare and review structural drawings and detailed design documents.
Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, MEP engineers and BIM teams.
Review shop drawings, fabrication drawings and structural detailing when required.
Respond to RFIs, technical queries, design comments and site-related structural issues.
Review contractor and subcontractor technical submissions and provide engineering comments.
Attend technical coordination meetings with clients, consultants and contractors.
Conduct site visits when required to verify existing conditions and resolve technical issues.
Assist in value engineering and optimization of structural designs.
Review calculations and design work prepared by junior engineers and designers.
Ensure design deliverables are completed within project schedules and required quality standards.
Maintain proper records of design calculations, drawings, revisions, submissions and approvals.

Candidates should be capable of developing structural models, performing analysis, interpreting design results and preparing detailed structural calculations independently.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in steel structural design.
Previous engineering consultancy experience is required.
UAE engineering consultancy experience will be preferred.
Strong experience in building and industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of steel structural analysis, design and detailing.
Good understanding of structural loading, load combinations, stability and serviceability requirements.
Experience in steel connection design including bolted and welded connections.
Knowledge of relevant international structural design codes and standards.
Ability to independently handle structural design assignments.
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
