About the Job
As a Digital Platform Engineer – Aftersales, you will focus on building digital tools, applications and reusable platform capabilities that solve real operational problems and support the digitalization of BYD’s aftersales business across Europe.
This is not a traditional software development role where requirements are simply handed over for implementation. You will work closely with business teams, Digital Product Owners and end users to understand business problems, shape practical solutions, rapidly prototype ideas, and turn them into reliable and scalable digital products.
You will contribute across the full delivery lifecycle – from business requirement understanding, solution design and prototyping to development, system integration, testing, deployment, operation and continuous improvement.
We expect you to actively leverage AI-assisted development, automation and modern engineering tools to improve development speed, quality and problem-solving efficiency. For smaller digital products or tools, you may also take lightweight product ownership and independently drive the solution from problem identification to delivery.
Main Responsibilities
- Digital Product & Platform Development: Design and develop internal digital tools, applications and reusable platform capabilities for European aftersales. Build scalable and maintainable solutions supporting areas such as service operations, parts, warranty, technical support, customer care and other aftersales domains.
- Business Understanding & Solution Design: Work directly with business teams, Digital Product Owners and end users to understand operational processes and pain points. Translate business problems into practical technical solutions and, where appropriate, challenge or refine requirements based on technical feasibility and business value.
- Rapid Prototyping & AI-Assisted Development: Rapidly turn business ideas into working prototypes and MVPs. Actively use AI coding assistants, LLMs, agents, automation and other modern development tools to accelerate analysis, coding, testing, documentation and troubleshooting while maintaining engineering quality.
- Full-Stack Development & System Integration: Develop front-end and back-end capabilities, APIs, services and data integrations. Integrate locally developed solutions with enterprise and third-party systems such as SAP, DMS, WMS, OMS, TIS, CRM and other relevant platforms.
- Platform & Reusable Capability Development: Contribute to solution architecture and develop reusable components, APIs, workflows and common services. Look beyond individual requirements and identify opportunities to build common capabilities that can be reused across different markets and business scenarios.
- Testing, Deployment & DevOps: Own technical delivery through development, code review, functional and technical testing, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring and release management. Ensure solutions are secure, reliable, maintainable and production-ready.
- Operation & Problem Solving: Provide technical and operational support after go-live. Investigate system and business issues, perform root-cause analysis, resolve problems and continuously improve platform stability, performance and user experience.
- Lightweight Product Ownership: For smaller digital products or tools, take end-to-end ownership from problem identification and requirement clarification through solution design, development, testing, rollout and continuous improvement. Work directly with users to validate whether the solution creates real business value.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with European business teams, Digital Product Owners, markets, BYD HQ development teams and external technology partners. Support technical decision-making and determine the most effective way to solve business problems through existing platforms, system integration or locally developed capabilities.
Qualification and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or another relevant technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience, with demonstrated ability to independently design, build and deliver production-ready applications or digital solutions.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript or similar technologies, with practical experience in application development.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, databases/SQL, system integration, authentication, data flows and software architecture.
- Practical experience with modern software engineering practices and tools such as Git, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud services, containers and application monitoring.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools in real development work. Familiarity with LLM APIs, AI agents, RAG, MCP or workflow orchestration is highly valued.
- Ability and willingness to understand business processes and operational problems, rather than working only from predefined technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving capability and ownership mindset, with the ability to independently move ambiguous problems toward practical working solutions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with business users, Product Owners, technical teams and external vendors in an international environment.
- Fluent English is required. Mandarin Chinese is a plus due to collaboration with BYD HQ and development teams.
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, DMS, WMS, OMS, CRM or TIS is highly desirable.
- Experience in automotive, aftersales, supply chain, manufacturing or enterprise digitalization is an advantage, but not mandatory.
