Overview

The Orange County Regional History Center is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Museum Services Coordinator, Public Programming. The History Center is a national multi-award-winning, AAM accredited, and Smithsonian affiliated institution centered around its mission: to serve as the gateway for community engagement, education, and inspiration by preserving and sharing Central Florida¿s continually unfolding story.

This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the museum¿s adult and youth & family public programming. Work is performed under the supervision of the Curator of Education.

Job Description

Representative Duties

-
Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the History Center's public programming, including adult and youth & family programs.

Oversees administrative coordination of public programs, including booking, handling invoices, receiving payments, managing program logistics, and scheduling volunteers.

Works collaboratively with museum departments and community partners to establish and maintain the public programming calendar. Facilitates communication between museum departments and/or community partners as relates to public programs.

Assists in training programming volunteers.

Responsible for oversight of the public programming budget.

Responsible for the content of related promotional materials for public programs and assists with their design and distribution.

Works with the Curator of Education to establish adult and youth & family public programs and priorities.

Assists the Curator of Education with research and application process for appropriate educational programming grants.

Serves on various committees in order to develop positive relationships within the community.

Participates in all education team planning and program development activities.

Assists with planning and implementation of all educational programming as necessary, including facilitation and administrative support as needed.

Assists in other areas and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

-
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in History, Humanities, Museum Studies, Education or other closely related field and one year of experience in program management, development, and coordination; or an associate¿s degree and three years of progressively responsible museum experience; or an equivalent combination of closely related education and experience.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

-
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.

Preferences

-
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master¿s degree in history, museum studies, or related field and two years of experience in program or event management, development, and coordination.

Knowledge of Florida history and American history.

-
Possesses a strong working knowledge of museum best practices.

The above description and qualifications are not all-inclusive and represent a majority of the key responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as required to fulfill the directives of the strategic plan or as designated by executive staff. Work environment is a combination of office setting and providing educational programming for various ages, with some walking and driving between the office to the Museum and local businesses or schools; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

- Final Candidates must successfully pass a background screening and fingerprinting, must be able to live and work in the United States, and may be required to pass a drug test. Interview and relocation expenses are not offered.

Schedule: Generally, 8:00 am ¿ 5:00 pm, Monday ¿ Friday, frequent evenings and weekends are required based on public program schedule
