Job Description

General Functions:

Performs paraprofessional and administrative support human resources work. Provides a wide range of human resources support service in Human Resources (HR) Administration or an HR Service Center.

Work is performed under the general direction of an HR Advisor or HR Administrator. Performance is evaluated for accuracy, efficiency and results achieved.

Representative Duties/Assignments:

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following duties are representative and not all inclusive:

Supports the day-to-day administration of Human Resources programs and services, with primary responsibilities in employee benefits, retirement, records management, leave programs, and related HR functions.

Serves as a liaison between employees, departments, Payroll, and Human Resources to research, respond to, and resolve employee questions and benefit-related issues. Assists with time and attendance tracking and related documentation.

Provides employees with accurate and timely information regarding County benefit plans and programs. Assists employees with benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and other qualifying life-event transactions while ensuring information is properly documented and payroll deductions are accurate.

Collects, reviews, and processes supporting documentation for family status changes and other benefit-related requests. Coordinates with insurance carriers to research and resolve employee concerns, enrollment discrepancies, and benefit issues.

Assists with communicating County benefit plans, programs, and procedures during Connections/new employee orientation and provides employees with information and resources to assist them in making informed benefit decisions.

Provides general information and assistance to employees regarding retirement and benefits, including support for employees preparing to retire. Assists with Florida Retirement System (FRS) enrollment, membership designation changes, and the research and resolution of related issues and errors.

Supports the Benefits team with a variety of administrative responsibilities, including responding to emails, preparing employee communications, updating benefit information, reviewing and processing documentation, maintaining records, and completing assigned projects.

Assists with the administration of the Employee Leave Bank, including applying established policies and procedures, responding to general employee inquiries, processing documentation, and researching and resolving leave-related issues.

Maintains confidentiality and safeguards sensitive employee, benefits, payroll, and retirement information in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.

Provides professional, timely, and courteous customer service to employees, departments, vendors, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders while working collaboratively with the HR Benefits team.

Performs other related duties and special assignments as required to support the effective and efficient operation of Human Resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree from an accredited institution and one year of human resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferences:

Post secondary education from an accredited institution

HR Certification Institute Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)
