Systems Architect

Blu Omega is seeking a Systems Architect to support mission-critical federal IT modernization initiatives by defining, designing, and governing secure, scalable enterprise system architectures. This role is responsible for providing architectural leadership across applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and integrated systems.
Program Overview
The VA Loan Guaranty Service (LGY) is responsible for running the VA home loan program, assisting active-duty service members, Veterans, and eligible surviving spouses in buying, building, or maintaining a home.

Responsibilities
- Define and design enterprise system architectures spanning applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, data, and integrated services
- Translate business, mission, and technical requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing system designs
- Establish and maintain architecture standards, design patterns, technical principles, and engineering best practices
- Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security requirements, and long-term technology strategies
- Design and guide integration strategies across applications, platforms, APIs, microservices, and cloud services
- Partner with engineering, DevOps, security, product, and business stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle
- Evaluate architectural tradeoffs, technical risks, dependencies, and opportunities for system modernization and improvement
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with mission requirements and organizational goals
- Provide technical guidance to delivery teams and resolve complex architecture, scalability, and performance challenges
- Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, system specifications, design documentation, decision records, and governance artifacts
- Support Agile and hybrid delivery teams to ensure architectural direction remains aligned with evolving requirements
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in systems architecture, software engineering, or related technical roles
- Strong experience designing enterprise architectures and complex distributed systems
- Experience with modern cloud platforms and cloud-based architecture patterns
- Experience designing system integrations, APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architectures
- Understanding of application, infrastructure, networking, security, and platform architecture concepts
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, or similar technologies
- Experience establishing architecture standards, patterns, and technical governance
- Experience working with engineering, DevOps, cybersecurity, and business teams in complex enterprise environments
- Experience supporting Agile or hybrid software delivery environments
- Strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Compensation
Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
