Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically competent Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our shipyard operations team. The candidate will be responsible for planning, execution, supervision, and quality control of mechanical works related to shipbuilding, ship repair, maintenance, and installation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise mechanical engineering activities related to shipbuilding and ship repair projects.
- Execute installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and commissioning of marine mechanical systems.
- Supervise mechanical equipment installation, piping, pumps, valves, machinery, and associated systems.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, work procedures, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Electrical, Hull, Procurement, and other departments.
- Monitor project progress and ensure completion of assigned activities within the planned schedule and budget.
- Supervise contractors and workmen and ensure effective utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and applicable marine/classification requirements.
- Identify technical issues during execution and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Conduct inspections, pressure testing, alignment, commissioning, and functional testing of mechanical systems.
- Prepare work reports, progress updates, inspection records, and other technical documentation.
- Coordinate with clients, surveyors, class representatives, and other stakeholders during inspections and trials.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and maintain safe working practices at the workplace.
- Support troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical and machinery-related issues.
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, shipyard, marine engineering, heavy engineering, or related industries.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems, marine machinery, piping systems, pumps, valves, and equipment installation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment drawings, and technical specifications.
- Good knowledge of project execution, manpower planning, work coordination, and site supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in ship repair / shipbuilding projects will be highly preferred.
- Knowledge of classification society requirements and marine standards.
- Experience in machinery installation, piping, alignment, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience in coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and surveyors.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering/project management software.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
