Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection
- Provide pet care and animal husbandry to ensure comfort, safety, and well-being of animals in our care
- Perform animal handling tasks such as dog training, grooming, and proper restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical prep and procedures to prevent infection
- Support diagnostic processes by operating X-ray equipment, preparing laboratory samples, and recording results accurately
- Monitor animal physiology during recovery or critical care situations, recognizing signs of distress or deterioration
- Educate pet owners on basic pet care, grooming tips, and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing health at home
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal care experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology to assist effectively in clinical settings
- Experience with dental terminology and procedures is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and horses; familiarity with equine care is advantageous
- Laboratory experience including sample processing or diagnostic testing preferred
- Veterinary technician or assistant certification or relevant veterinary experience is beneficial but not mandatory
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely using proper techniques; experience with pet grooming or dog training is a plus
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques, X-ray operation, and pet grooming tools enhances your contribution to our team
