JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Site Supervisor
Department: Projects / Site Operations
Industry: Real Estate – Plotted Development
Reporting To: Project Manager / Project Head
Location: Project Site, Tamil Nadu
Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Role Purpose

The Site Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and coordination of real estate project site activities, ensuring that assigned works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and timelines.

The role involves coordinating with contractors, labourers, vendors, engineers and internal teams, monitoring manpower and materials, maintaining site discipline and safety, and providing regular progress updates to the Project Manager.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Site Execution & Supervision

- Supervise day-to-day activities at the project site and ensure work is carried out as per approved plans and instructions.

- Monitor execution of civil and infrastructure works such as:

- Land development and site clearing

- Roads and internal pathways

- Drainage works

- Compound/fencing works

- Earthwork and levelling

- Utility and basic infrastructure works

- Landscaping and other project-related works

- Ensure work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

- Monitor the progress of activities and ensure work is completed within the assigned timeline.

- Identify site-level issues and immediately report them to the Project Manager.

B. Labour & Contractor Coordination

- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of labourers and site workers.

- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors for smooth execution of work.

- Allocate work to labour teams based on daily requirements and priorities.

- Monitor contractor manpower and productivity.

- Verify attendance/manpower deployment at the site.

- Ensure contractors follow company instructions, work schedules and site requirements.

- Escalate manpower shortages, delays or contractor-related issues to the Project Manager.

C. Material Management

- Monitor receipt, unloading, storage and utilisation of construction materials at the site.

- Verify materials received against delivery challans and purchase requirements.

- Maintain proper records of materials received and consumed.

- Monitor material wastage and prevent unnecessary loss or misuse.

- Inform the Project Manager/Purchase team in advance regarding material requirements.

- Ensure materials are stored safely and appropriately at the site.

- Report shortages, damages or quality issues immediately.

D. Quality Control

- Monitor the quality of work carried out by contractors and labourers.

- Ensure execution is as per approved specifications and project standards.

- Identify defects, improper workmanship or deviations and report them immediately.

- Coordinate with engineers/Project Manager for rectification of defective work.

- Ensure rework is completed properly before proceeding to the next stage.

- Maintain basic site quality records and photographs wherever required.

E. Site Measurement & Verification

- Take and maintain measurements of completed works wherever required.

- Verify contractor work quantities against actual site execution.

- Assist the Project Manager/Engineer in checking contractor bills and work measurements.

- Maintain daily records of work completed, quantities and manpower deployed.

- Report any mismatch between claimed work and actual site work.

F. Site Safety & Discipline

- Ensure basic safety practices are followed by all workers and contractors at the site.

- Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) wherever required.

- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, incidents and near misses immediately.

- Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness at the project site.

- Prevent unauthorised persons from entering restricted work areas.

- Ensure site tools, equipment and materials are used safely.

- Maintain overall site discipline.

G. Daily Site Reporting

- Prepare and submit Daily Site Progress Reports to the Project Manager.

- Report:

- Work completed

- Work in progress

- Manpower deployed

- Materials received

- Materials consumed

- Equipment deployed

- Contractor activities

- Site issues

- Delays

- Safety concerns

- Photographic updates

- Maintain proper site registers and records.

- Immediately escalate critical issues that may affect cost, quality or project timelines.

H. Coordination with Internal Departments

- Coordinate with Projects, Purchase, Accounts, Legal & Liaisoning and Management teams whenever required.

- Coordinate with the Purchase team regarding site material requirements.

- Support the Accounts team by providing relevant work completion/measurement details.

- Coordinate with Legal & Liaisoning teams when site-related access or Government coordination is required.

- Provide site information and updates required by Management.

I. Site Security & Asset Monitoring

- Monitor the proper use and safety of company/project assets at the site.

- Ensure tools, equipment and materials are not misused or removed without authorisation.

- Coordinate with security personnel, where applicable.

- Report theft, damage, loss or unauthorised movement of materials/assets immediately.

- Maintain basic records of site equipment and materials.

3. Key Deliverables / KRAs

- Timely completion of assigned site activities.

- Effective supervision of contractors and labourers.

- Proper manpower utilisation.

- Accurate material monitoring and reduced wastage.

- Quality execution as per project requirements.

- Accurate site measurements and work verification.

- Timely submission of Daily Site Progress Reports.

- Compliance with site safety and housekeeping requirements.

- Prompt identification and escalation of site issues.

- Effective coordination between site and project office.

4. Required Qualifications

Education:

- Diploma / ITI / B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.

- Civil Engineering qualification will be preferred.

Experience:

- 2–5 years of relevant experience in construction, real estate, civil works or plotted development projects.

- Candidates with practical experience in site supervision and contractor management will be preferred.

5. Required Knowledge & SkillsTechnical Skills

- Basic knowledge of civil construction and site development activities.

- Understanding of drawings, measurements and basic technical specifications.

- Knowledge of construction materials and their applications.

- Basic knowledge of quantity measurement and estimation.

- Understanding of site safety practices.

- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and site reporting.

- Ability to maintain site registers and documentation.

6. Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in real estate/construction site supervision and should be capable of independently monitoring day-to-day site activities, coordinating contractors and labourers, tracking materials, verifying work measurements and reporting project progress to the Project Manager.

Candidates with experience in plotted development projects, internal roads, drainage, land development, fencing/compound works and other infrastructure-related activities will be preferred.

7. Role Success Criteria

The overall objective is to ensure that assigned site activities are executed safely, efficiently, within the required quality standards and within the planned timelines, with proper coordination and reporting.

Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month
