Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Water System Manager to lead and oversee the operation, maintenance, and safety of water of public water systems. In this vital role, you will ensure the efficient functioning of water treatment equipment, manage water systems, electronic controls and uphold environmental compliance standards. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in water utility distribution, pump operation, and industrial equipment maintenance. Responsibilities

- Supervise the operation of water systems, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory compliance.

- Manage routine inspection and operation of multiple OTM water systems, schedule and complete monthly site visits

- Maintain records and regulatory documentation

- Monitor system performance and water quality

- Make repairs as necessary; coordinate significant repairs with client, field crews and contractors

- Communicate with customers and DNR

- Assist with troubleshooting, planning, and system improvements

- Occasional availability to work weekends and/or respond to emergencies (typically less than 5 days per year)

- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water well equipment, well pumps, and NSF chemical injection pumps.

- Monitor data collection from control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to optimize system efficiency.

- Manage the operation of heavy equipment and construction activities related to well pump water maintenance projects.

- Enforce safety regulations by ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols during all maintenance and operational tasks.

- Conduct analysis of system performance to identify areas for improvements or equipment upgrades.

- Coordinate with environmental agencies to maintain compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

- Lead team members in performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on water distribution systems.

Experience

- Engineering degree or 3-5 years of water industry experience preferred.

- Strong aptitude in Microsoft Office suite.

- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.

- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule.

- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn water system equipment (electrical aptitude a bonus).

- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

- Class A CDL preferred

- Wisconsin DNR waterworks operator certification preferred

- Will assist in achieving this credential Proven experience working within the energy & utilities sector, specifically in water or wastewater treatment facilities.

- Strong mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, filtration systems, and water treatment equipment operation.

- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and data collection tools used in industrial environments.

- Knowledge of environmental compliance standards related to water quality regulation.

- Prior experience recommended with industrial pump maintenance & repair, as well as general equipment upkeep in a utility setting.

- Familiarity with safety regulations governing heavy lifting and construction activities.
