JOB DESCRIPTION – STAFF NURSE
Position: Staff Nurse
Department: Nursing - OT,ICU , WARD ,ER
Location: Medway Hospital , Mogappair
Reporting To: Nursing Superintendent / Nursing In-charge
Job Summary
The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and quality nursing care to patients. The role involves patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring of vital signs, assisting doctors during procedures, maintaining accurate nursing records, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients according to their medical condition and treatment plan.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs, clinical condition, intake/output, and other relevant observations.
- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by the treating physician.
- Assist doctors during clinical procedures, examinations, and emergency interventions.
- Maintain proper nursing documentation, patient charts, medication records, and shift handover reports.
- Ensure proper identification of patients before medication administration, procedures, and investigations.
- Monitor patients for any changes in their condition and promptly report abnormalities to the doctor and Nursing In-charge.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care as applicable.
- Assist in emergency situations and follow hospital emergency protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and use of PPE.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications, biomedical waste, and clinical materials.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and readiness of the nursing station and patient-care areas.
- Educate patients and their attendants regarding medications, procedures, treatment plans, and discharge instructions as directed.
- Support patient admission, transfer, discharge, and referral processes.
- Ensure proper stock availability of medicines, consumables, and emergency equipment in the assigned area.
- Participate in nursing audits, quality initiatives, training programs, and hospital meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Perform other nursing-related duties assigned by the Nursing Superintendent / Nursing In-charge.
Qualification
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM (DGNM)
- Valid Nursing Registration – RNRM / State Nursing Council registration mandatory
- Fresher and experienced candidates may be considered based on unit requirements.
Experience
- 1–5 years of relevant hospital experience preferred.
- Freshers with the required nursing qualification and valid registration may also be considered.

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
