JOB DESCRIPTION – IN-PATIENT BILLING EXECUTIVE

Job Summary
The In-Patient Billing Executive will be responsible for managing the complete billing process for admitted patients, ensuring accurate and timely billing, coordination with various hospital departments, insurance/TPA teams, and patients' attendants, and maintaining proper billing documentation as per hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle the complete in-patient billing process from admission to final discharge.
- Prepare and verify interim bills and final bills for in-patients.
- Ensure accurate posting of charges for room rent, consultation, procedures, investigations, pharmacy, consumables, nursing charges, OT, ICU and other hospital services.
- Verify patient billing details and ensure all services availed are properly captured in the billing system.
- Coordinate with Doctors, Nursing, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, OT, ICU and other departments for pending charges and billing clarifications.
- Monitor patient outstanding balances and coordinate with patients/attenders for timely payment.
- Handle cash, card, UPI and other approved payment modes and ensure proper receipt generation.
- Coordinate with the Insurance and TPA Department regarding approvals, billing documents and discharge formalities.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of bills for cash, insurance and corporate patients.
- Review and reconcile advance payments with the final bill.
- Process refunds, adjustments and billing corrections as per hospital policies and authorized approvals.
- Ensure all discounts and concessions are processed only with proper approval.
- Coordinate with the concerned departments to resolve billing discrepancies before patient discharge.
- Maintain proper records of bills, receipts, payment details and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies, financial procedures and audit requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
- Support the Billing Manager/Finance Team in daily billing reports, reconciliation and other assigned activities.
Required Qualifications
- Any Graduate / B.Com / BBA / equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in hospital billing / in-patient billing will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in healthcare billing, TPA or insurance billing will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in hospital billing preferred.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of hospital billing procedures and processes.
- Basic understanding of insurance/TPA billing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hospital billing software/HIS.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Good coordination skills with patients, doctors and hospital departments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends/holidays as required.
Preferred Candidate Profile
A responsible and detail-oriented candidate with good communication skills and the ability to handle patient billing queries professionally. Prior experience in a hospital environment, particularly in-patient billing, will be preferred.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
