Position Overview
We are seeking a Scientist II / Sr. Scientist, Biochemistry Integration to play a key role in the development of novel assays. This individual will optimize and integrate reagents to achieve highest levels of system performance and robustness of the organization's platform.
The role will contribute directly to development of reagents, workflow implementation, integration of reagents and workflows on our platform, and help define requirements for future platforms. This role offers opportunities for broad technical growth not only in core area of biochemistry integration but also on interfaces with departments across the organization.
The candidate must be an effective communicator, analytical, and collaborative, thriving in a dynamic environment that values innovation, cross-disciplinary interaction, and scientific rigor. The ideal candidate is curious and a fast learner, unintimidated by climbing steep new learning curves and going deep into the details of a new technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop reagents and assay workflows and perform formulation optimization, robustness.
- Integrate reagents and workflows with the company's prototype, pre-production and production instruments. Run, troubleshoot and optimize workflows on our instruments.
- Develop, implement and validate analytical assays (plate reader, HPLC, etc.) to access activity, reaction kinetics, reagent and component stability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams that include engineers, chemists, and data scientists to achieve company goals.
- Design, execute and lead engineering studies and initiate and contribute to cross-functional collaborations.
- Communicate results clearly, prepare scientific reports and presentations, and contribute to manuscripts/patents.
- Document methods, prepare reports, and contribute to SOPs.
- Support lab organization, formulate reagents, maintain equipment, ensure compliance with safety and reproducibility practices.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with or M.S. with 4+ years of relevant experience, or B.S. with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience optimizing and implementing quantitative biochemical assays.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Interest and willingness to work with instrument breadboards and development prototypes.
- Demonstrated motivation, curiosity, proactivity, and willingness to learn.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with development of reagents for instrumentation is a plus.
- Interest in analysis of large datasets, scripting, or modifying code to interpret experiments is a plus.
