This isn't a role scoped to one product; it's broad ownership across cloud infrastructure, data architecture, and tightly coupled to lab and business operations.
You'll need to be a strong full-stack engineer who can operate independently across the stack, frontend, backend, data, and cloud infrastructure, intimately familiar with modern development practices, and a clear communicator who can sit with operations, finance, and lab leadership to translate ambiguous business needs into shipped software Deep full-stack and cloud experience is required; curiosity and the ability to move fast across unfamiliar domains matter just as much, since this role touches nearly every part of the business.
This role is a unique opportunity to own a central piece to the overall success of the company.
Responsibilities:

- Build a robust cloud infrastructure that leverage best in class tooling to manage provisioning, cost, reliability, and security as data and transaction volume scales.
- Design data models and APIs that connect lab systems, lab equipment, business sys-tems (NetSuite, ATS, CRM), and internal dashboards into a coherent operational backbone.
- Help set the technical direction regarding architecture, code quality, CI/CD, testing, observability across a small but growing engineering org.
- Work directly with operations, finance, and lab leadership to map requirements and priorities, translating ambiguous business needs into shipped software.
- Over time build a team and mentor other engineers and act as a technical escalation point across the stack.
- Contribute to CI/CD, code review, and testing practices company-wide.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience, including senior/staff-level ownership of production systems.
- Deep, hands-on experience with modern cloud infrastructure spanning architecture, deployment, cost, and reliability management.
- Full-stack programming experience spanning a modern frontend framework (e.g. React), backend services, and data modeling (SQL/NoSQL), with git-based workflows and CI/CD.
- Track record of building internal tools or platforms from ambiguous requirements, not just feature work on an existing product, that have been deployed into production use.
- Experience operating as a technical leader who works directly with non-engineering stakeholders (ops, finance, or similar).
- BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. Track record with production systems weighs more than credentials.
Nice to have:
- Experience in a high-growth startup or biotech/life sciences environment.
- Familiarity with regulated-data handling (21 CFR Part 11, ISO 13485, ISO 15189, CAP / CLIA, GxP, or HIPAA).
- Experience integrating with business systems like NetSuite, ATS platforms, or CRMs.
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar) and CI/CD pipeline ownership.
- Experience with LIMS or laboratory workflows
- Experience with HL7 v2, FHIR, LIS, ASTM E1394, or IHE profiles for lab / EMR interoperability.
