Job Title: Math Tutor/Provider

Assignment: Intermediate, Grades 3-5
Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt, hourly
Pay Grade: Certified $29.00/hr; Non-Certified $25.00/hr

Terms of Employment:
This is a part-time- up to 19 hours per week (up to 5 hours/day 2-4 days per week), FLSA non-exempt position
(hourly).
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for
intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function
successfully in society.
Education/Certification:
? High school graduate required
? Bachelor's degree from accredited university preferred
? Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned preferred
Experience:
? Previous work with students at any grade in levels K-8 preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Knowledge of subjects assigned
? General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
? Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
? Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies:
? Instructional Delivery: Execute the assigned math lessons faithfully for each targeted group.
? Progress Reporting: Regularly record and report student performance data and skill mastery back to the
Intervention Manager.
? Implement lessons designed by classroom teachers that fulfill the requirements of the school's curriculum
program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
? Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
? Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and
administrative regulations.
? Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that
reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
? Work cooperatively with teachers to modify curricula as needed for students
? Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to
school requirements.
? Use technology as available to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development:
? Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
? Informally assess students to determine needs and adaptations for instruction.
? Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of school.
? Classroom Management and Organization:
? Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and
? emotional development of students.
? Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
? Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
? Utilize books, equipment, and other instructional materials appropriately.
? Group Management: Maintain designated ratios during active instruction.
Communication:
? Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
? Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students and parents.
? Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Other:
? Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
? Assist with maintaining all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
? Other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: personal computer, printer, copier, and audiovisual equipment.
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying
