Position: Global Manufacturing Capacity Engineer

Location: Valley Green, Pennsylvania (Global Travel)

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors and cable assemblies for the Telecom/Datacom market, including AI infrastructure, data centers, storage, servers, routers, and switches. Our products enable the electronics revolution and support major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, engineering, and manufacturing locations worldwide and are currently seeking a Global Manufacturing Capacity Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems (CBS) Global NPI organization based in Valley Green, Pennsylvania.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Own the CBS global manufacturing capacity planning model and establish one controlled view of demand, secured capacity, constraints, ramp assumptions, and required investments across the manufacturing network.

o Translate customer forecasts, program build plans, and allocation assumptions into required production hours, equipment quantities, line capacity, shifts, labor, and site loading by month.

o Define and govern standard capacity assumptions including cycle time, OEE, yield, attrition, planned downtime, available manufacturing hours, changeover, maintenance, utilization targets, and ramp curves.

o Consolidate site capacity data into a common model that supports consistent comparison across Vietnam, China, Mexico, USA, and future CBS manufacturing locations.

o Provide executive-level visibility of capacity coverage, gaps, timing, mitigation plans, and CapEx requirements before customer demand is impacted.

- Capacity vs. Demand Management - Maintain short-, medium-, and long-range capacity models by program, product family, process, site, and equipment family. Show demand hours, secured capacity hours, coverage percentage, and risk status using controlled assumptions.

- Ramp Capacity Planning - Model capacity through NPI and production ramp, accounting for phased equipment availability, qualification timing, learning curves, yield maturation, staffing readiness, and expected OEE progression.

- Constraint & Bottleneck Analysis - Identify physical and operational bottlenecks, quantify the magnitude and timing of each gap, and determine whether the constraint is driven by equipment, process, labor, test, material flow, floor space, or readiness.

- Scenario & Allocation Modeling - Evaluate alternative site allocations, production transfers, shift patterns, overtime, equipment redeployment, line conversions, outsourcing, or phased CapEx. Quantify capacity, cost, schedule, and risk tradeoffs for leadership decisions.

-

Equipment / CapEx Requirements - Convert verified capacity gaps into equipment and line requirements, including quantity, timing, utilization, required operational readiness, and the impact of supplier lead time, installation, debug, and qualification.

- Capacity Governance - Lead recurring global capacity reviews with site IE, Planning, Operations, Automation, Finance, and NPI. Maintain assumptions, data ownership, action items, decisions, and mitigation due dates.

- Digital Capacity Platform - Develop Power BI dashboards and standardized data structures for capacity, demand, utilization, ramp, and equipment requirements. Support integration with planning, ERP/MRP, MES, equipment, and other approved data sources.

- Data Quality & Change Control - Establish validation rules and revision control for forecast changes, cycle-time updates, equipment status, site allocations, and other inputs that materially change capacity conclusions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, or a related quantitative/technical discipline.

- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing capacity planning, Industrial Engineering, production planning, operations analytics, or factory modeling in a high-volume environment.

- Strong knowledge of cycle time, OEE, yield, available hours, utilization, bottleneck analysis, line loading, equipment requirements, and production-ramp modeling.

- Demonstrated ability to convert forecast and demand into machine, line, labor, and capital requirements and to communicate the assumptions behind the analysis.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Power BI are strongly preferred. Experience with ERP/MRP, MES, SQL, Snowflake, or manufacturing databases is a plus.

- Experience supporting NPI, factory allocation, production transfers, CapEx planning, or global capacity reviews is strongly preferred.

- Strong analytical communication skills with the ability to present complex scenarios, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and executive audiences.

- Ability to manage multiple changing data inputs while maintaining accuracy, traceability, and version control.

- Travel - Approximately 15-30% domestic and international travel.
