Position: Global Industrial Engineer
Location: Valley Green, Pennsylvania (Global Travel)
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high-speed, high-bandwidth electrical connectors and cable assemblies for the Telecom/Datacom market, including AI infrastructure, data centers, storage, servers, routers, and switches. Our products enable the electronics revolution and support major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, engineering, and manufacturing locations worldwide and are currently seeking a Global Industrial Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems (CBS) Global NPI organization based in Valley Green, Pennsylvania.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive global Industrial Engineering execution and standardization across CBS manufacturing sites, supporting NPI readiness, early cost modeling, OpsPlan, production ramp, capacity, labor productivity, manufacturing cost, and factory performance.
o Develop common IE methods for cycle time, standard labor, line balance, takt time, OEE, equipment utilization, manufacturing availability, and ramp assumptions.
o Partner with site IE teams to validate data at the source, reconcile differences in local calculation methods, and establish one approved global baseline for decision-making.
o Translate product forecast and program build plans into manufacturing requirements including labor, equipment, line loading, shifts, floor space, and production hours.
o Provide fact-based recommendations to Global NPI, Operations, Planning, Finance, Automation, Quality, and site leadership on constraints, productivity opportunities, and manufacturing readiness.
- NPI Manufacturing Readiness - Support EVT, DVT, PVT, qualification, pilot, and MP ramp activities by confirming process flow, cycle time, staffing, equipment, tooling, layout, training, documentation, and production-control readiness before each build phase.
- Work Measurement & Line Design - Perform time studies, work-content analysis, line balancing, manpower modeling, workstation design, ergonomic assessment, material-flow analysis, and standard-work definition. Establish scalable line concepts that can support expected ramp profiles.
- Capacity & Constraint Analysis - Analyze capacity versus demand by site, process, work center, and equipment family. Identify bottlenecks, utilization risks, and timing gaps; develop mitigation scenarios including shift changes, balancing, equipment redeployment, line additions, or alternate site loading.
- Early Cost Modeling & Manufacturing Feasibility - Develop preliminary manufacturing cost models during RFQ, concept, and early NPI phases using projected cycle time, labor content, yield, equipment and tooling, floor-space, CapEx, and site assumptions. Compare process and site scenarios, identify primary cost drivers, and progressively refine the model as product and process maturity increase to support quoting, business-case, sourcing, and manufacturing decisions.
- Cost & Productivity Engineering - Develop and maintain labor, process, and conversion-cost baselines as products and processes mature. Identify opportunities to reduce conversion cost, improve throughput, eliminate non-value-added work, reduce WIP, improve changeover, and increase equipment and labor productivity.
- OpsPlan & Long-Range Manufacturing Planning - Support CBS OpsPlan and periodic forecast cycles by translating program and revenue demand into manufacturing capacity, labor/headcount, equipment, floor-space, CapEx, productivity, and site-loading requirements. Partner with Operations, Finance, Planning, Global NPI, and site IE teams to align assumptions, identify gaps, and develop executable manufacturing scenarios and multi-year requirements.
- CapEx & Equipment Planning - Support technical and financial justification of equipment and tooling requirements by validating utilization, required quantities, production readiness dates, and expected benefit. Ensure proposed investments are linked to verified capacity or process needs.
- Global Benchmarking & Standardization - Benchmark performance and methods across CBS sites, identify best practices, and drive adoption of common standards for IE calculations, layouts, work measurement, reporting, and manufacturing readiness.
- Digital Manufacturing Analytics - Develop and maintain standardized Power BI and data-model outputs for capacity, utilization, labor, productivity, cost, and ramp readiness. Support transition from isolated Excel models to controlled common data sources.
- Continuous Improvement - Lead or support Lean, Kaizen, standardized work, root-cause analysis, value-stream improvement, and other structured initiatives; verify improvements through measurable before/after results and sustainment plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3-5 years of Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, operations, capacity planning, or high-volume manufacturing experience; multi-site or global experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of time study, standard labor, line balancing, takt time, OEE, equipment utilization, capacity planning, facility/layout analysis, material flow, and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Experience supporting NPI, early manufacturing cost modeling, OpsPlan/annual operating planning, production ramps, product transfers, CapEx planning, or manufacturing footprint decisions is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required. Experience with Power BI, ERP/MRP, MES, SQL, Snowflake, SharePoint, or similar manufacturing data systems is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, standardized work, problem solving, SPC, and continuous-improvement methods.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to align technical and operational stakeholders across multiple sites and time zones.
- Demonstrated ownership, urgency, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced global manufacturing environment.
- Travel - Approximately 10-20% domestic and international travel.
