We’re looking for a Manufacturing Electrical Systems Technician at the journeyperson level to keep our Rochester operations running at their best. You’ll be the go-to expert for installing, maintaining, and diagnosing advanced plant electrical and control systems.

Role highlights

- Own preventive/corrective maintenance for production equipment and controls.

- Diagnose electrical issues quickly to prevent production slowdowns.

- Install and route wiring, panels, and circuits to spec.

- Read and apply schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams.

- Follow OSHA and GM safety procedures every time.

- Collaborate across maintenance, engineering, and operations; drive continuous improvement.

- Bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to every assignment.

What you bring

- Minimum of six (6) years relevant electrical experience, or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade.

- Age 18+ at time of hire.

- Ability to work variable shifts (day/afternoon/night), plus overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

- Comfort operating in a fast-paced industrial setting and driving mobile equipment as required.

- Current GM employees under a collective bargaining agreement should contact their local HR/LR representative for placement options.

Physical requirements

- Rapid response to safety signals and instructions.

- Extended standing; occasional seated tasks.

- Consistent PPE usage.

- Navigate active production areas safely.

- Ability to bend, twist, kneel, crouch, reach; lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (role-dependent).

Pay, benefits, and location

- Classification may be Journeyperson in Training (JIT) at $37.77–$44.06 or Journeyperson at $44.96; status and pay depend on credentials and interview results.

- Competitive UAW hourly compensation with comprehensive benefits and potential annual incentive payout for eligible employees.

- Onsite role requiring full-time presence at our Rochester facility.

- Relocation and travel costs are typically the candidate’s responsibility. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
