4 to 6 years of experience
Skills: Manual Tesing, QA Automation, Selenium, API Testing
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Automation QA Engineer who can take complete ownership of quality assurance activities across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of independently planning, designing, executing, and maintaining automated and manual testing activities.
The candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that applications meet functional, performance, security, and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take complete ownership of application quality, from requirement analysis through production release.
- Proactively identify quality risks, testing gaps, dependencies, and potential production issues.
- Develop and implement an effective test automation strategy aligned with product and release objectives.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reusable automation frameworks.
- Automate functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end test scenarios.
- Analyse business and technical requirements and prepare comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test data.
- Perform manual testing where automation is not feasible or appropriate.
- Execute regression testing and provide clear recommendations on release readiness.
- Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines and ensure their reliable execution.
- Investigate test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with developers to resolve defects.
- Track defects through closure and ensure appropriate validation of fixes.
- Improve automation coverage, test reliability, execution time, and defect detection effectiveness.
- Monitor application behaviour after deployment and support production issue analysis.
- Provide timely and transparent reporting on test progress, quality risks, defects, and release status.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Mentor team members and promote automation and quality-engineering best practices.
- Continuously evaluate tools, processes, and testing approaches to improve overall product quality.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in software quality assurance and test automation.
- Strong experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
- Hands-on experience designing or maintaining automation frameworks using approaches such as Page Object Model, data-driven testing, or behaviour-driven development.
- Strong experience in API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Playwright, or similar solutions.
- Experience with test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, Pytest, NUnit, or Jest.
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience validating data at the database level.
- Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Good understanding of Git and standard source-control practices.
- Strong knowledge of software testing concepts, test design techniques, defect lifecycle, and quality metrics.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with performance-testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or K6.
- Exposure to mobile automation using Appium or similar tools.
- Experience testing applications deployed on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with Docker, containerized environments, and microservices.
- Knowledge of accessibility, security, and cross-browser testing.
- Experience with test-management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Zephyr, or TestRail.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools and modern quality-engineering practices.
Ownership and Behavioural Expectations
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Complete ownership of assigned applications, releases, and quality outcomes.
- A proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues before they affect delivery or production.
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Accountability for commitments, timelines, and deliverable quality.
- A solution-oriented mindset rather than dependency on continuous direction.
- Effective collaboration across technical and business teams.
- Willingness to challenge unclear requirements and raise risks early.
- Continuous focus on improving automation coverage, testing efficiency, and product quality.
Success Measures
- Improved automation coverage and reduced manual regression effort.
- Early identification of defects and quality risks.
- Stable, reliable, and maintainable automated test suites.
- Reduced defect leakage into production.
- Timely completion of testing activities aligned with release commitments.
- Clear communication of release readiness, risks, and dependencies.
- Continuous improvement in the team’s overall quality-engineering practices.
