Verve makes days! From Farmlevel to Streetlevel, our passionate and dedicated team members constantly strive to provide an authentic, superior coffee experience. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our inspiration. Having built a recognized brand and a differentiated position in the specialty coffee industry, we are entering our next chapter: turning our foundation into a larger, highly durable, and profitable consumer business.

We are seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to answer one fundamental question: "How do we create the next engine of profitable consumer growth?"

This is not a traditional CMO role. You will not simply manage ad budgets or agency rosters. Instead, you oversee the brand marketing and creative teams, own the end-to-end system driving long-term enterprise value—connecting consumer behavior, product, pricing, distribution, ecommerce, retail, acquisition, retention, and unit economics into one integrated growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

-

Define Verve’s Next Growth Engine: Develop and own a multi-year growth strategy that identifies high-impact opportunities to materially alter the company’s growth trajectory. Answer fundamental questions across customer acquisition, household penetration, DTC, retail/wholesale balance, channel distribution, new categories, and the trade-offs between acquisition, retention, and brand investment.

-

Own Profitable Consumer Growth: Establish the commercial and economic framework for growth. Maintain direct P&L accountability across revenue, gross/contribution margins, CAC, LTV, payback periods, new vs. repeat customer growth, retention, channel unit economics, promotional efficiency, and product/customer profitability to ensure every dollar of growth capital yields maximum return.

-

Build an Integrated Growth Engine: Lead the full consumer lifecycle—from awareness and acquisition to repeat purchase, loyalty, and advocacy. Unify customer data pipelines across all channels to build a single, comprehensive view of the consumer.

-

Reimagine the Role of DTC: Transform DTC from a transactional storefront into a strategic consumer intelligence engine. Focus on conversion optimization, subscription revenue, LTV, first-party data capture, product validation, and using direct customer insights to inform broader enterprise strategy.

-

Create an Integrated Omnichannel Strategy: Develop a cohesive consumer journey across DTC, retail, and wholesale channels. Align pricing, distribution, and availability across channels to capture incremental demand without cannibalizing existing streams or commoditizing the brand. Partner closely with Sales and Operations to operationalize distribution growth.

-

Protect and Increase Brand Equity: Manage the critical balance between Distribution × Availability × Price × Product × Brand Equity. Make deliberate choices regarding pricing, promotions, packaging, product architecture, retail experience, and scarcity to ensure rapid commercial expansion strengthens—rather than erodes—Verve’s premium positioning.

-

Build New Growth Platforms: Identify, validate, and scale major new revenue streams beyond the existing core. Evaluate and execute on new consumer segments, consumption occasions, product categories, business models, strategic partnerships, geographic expansion, or novel routes to market.

-

Turn Consumer Data Into Business Strategy: Build advanced analytical capabilities to deeply understand cohort behavior, purchase drivers, churn, product-level acquisition/retention performance, and price sensitivity. Shift the company from historical reporting to predictive investment modeling.

-

Lead Innovation From Consumer Opportunity: Establish a disciplined innovation framework (Consumer Need Market Opportunity Product Proposition Economics Test Scale) in partnership with Product, Coffee, Retail, Operations, and Brand to solve real consumer needs and unlock incremental revenue.

-

Allocate Growth Capital: Direct strategic investment across brand, acquisition, retention, technology, retail, innovation, and customer experience. Exercise the authority to decisively scale high-performing initiatives and sunset underperforming ones.

-

Build and Lead the Growth Organization: Design, recruit, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team across Growth Marketing, Ecommerce, CRM/Lifecycle, Analytics, Consumer Insights, Brand, Creative, and Partnerships. Eliminate operational silos between brand, sales, marketing, and product.

Skills

-

Mastery of omnichannel growth mechanics, spanning DTC unit economics, subscription models, retail, and wholesale.

-

Deep financial and analytical capabilities, with proven experience in cohort modeling, capital allocation, and P&L optimization.

-

Ability to translate complex consumer data insights into actionable, high-ROI commercial strategies.

-

Executive presence and team leadership, functioning as a visionary leader who unifies cross-functional teams to execute fast, functional campaigns.

-

Premium brand sensibility, with the strategic ability to scale revenue without relying on aggressive discounting.

-

Strong fluency across modern tech ecosystems, including CRM, CDP, CMS, BI, ecommerce, and subscription management tools.

-

Deep operational capability to execute strategies directly without relying on a fully staffed team.

Qualifications

-

10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in growth, strategy, ecommerce, CPG, retail, or specialty food & beverage.

-

Proven track record of scaling consumer businesses with direct accountability over revenue, bottom-line growth, and enterprise value.

-

Strategic mindset with a rigorous, data-driven approach to decision-making and cross-functional leadership.

-

Demonstrated ability to break down silos between marketing, product, creative, sales, and operations.

-

Strong marketing and brand intuition and high brand positioning
