Summary: The Manager, Operations oversees the daily management of the Brookshire workshop, supporting the repair, overhaul, and service of turbomachinery and engines & marine systems equipment. This role is responsible for operational performance, workforce development, safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial results. The position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, HSEQ, and other business functions to ensure efficient execution of workshop activities while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations Management
- Lead the daily operations of the workshop to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality repair and overhaul services.
- Manage workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation to maximize productivity and meet customer commitments.
- Ensure the timely execution of projects while maintaining quality, safety, and cost objectives.
- Monitor workshop performance and implement corrective actions when operational targets are not achieved.
- Coordinate activities across departments to ensure alignment and support of operational priorities.
Performance & Financial Management
- Monitor revenue, margin, productivity, and operational performance against established business goals.
- Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, efficiency, delivery performance, and profitability.
- Provide regular operational updates and performance reporting to leadership.
- Support cost estimating activities and collaborate with Sales to develop competitive and profitable quotations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and financial performance.
Team Leadership & Workforce Development
- Lead, coach, and develop workshop personnel to achieve high levels of performance and engagement.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and skills development to support current and future business requirements.
- Conduct performance management activities, training programs, and succession planning initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Promote employee involvement in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, regulatory, and customer safety requirements.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, company policies, ISO requirements, and customer specifications.
- Lead efforts to identify, address, and prevent safety, quality, and operational risks.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Customer & Business Support
- Collaborate with Sales and customer-facing teams to support business growth and strengthen customer relationships.
- Ensure workshop activities consistently meet customer expectations for quality, responsiveness, and delivery.
- Support evaluation of new capabilities, services, and process improvements that enhance business performance.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and service teams to align priorities and maximize workshop effectiveness.
- Perform additional duties as required to support operational and business objectives.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
Preferred Education:
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Project Management, or supervisory leadership certifications preferred.
Required Experience/Qualifications/Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in workshop operations, manufacturing, repair, overhaul, or industrial services.
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment, turbomachinery, diesel engines, or related industrial equipment.
- Proven experience leading teams and managing operational performance.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling, resource management, and workflow optimization.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, ISO standards, and operational compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of commercial terms, customer contracts, and cost management principles.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and drive performance improvements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of financial metrics, budgeting, and performance reporting.
Physical Requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing management, planning, and administrative duties.
- Move throughout workshop, warehouse, and office environments to monitor operations and support personnel.
- Occasionally lift, move, or position materials and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Work in industrial environments that may include noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, and operating equipment.
- Travel up to 15% as required to support business activities, training, and customer engagements.
