About the work A large consumer-facing mobile product is being rebuilt as a native iOS application from a clean slate, alongside a parallel native Android build.
The role You are the senior iOS engineer on a greenfield build, working closely with the Mobile Architect. You will implement major feature areas end to end, shape the iOS codebase as it grows, and set the quality bar for the iOS side of the program.
What you will own
- Feature areas from API integration through to shipped UI, including tests
- SwiftUI implementation of the product's screens, including accessibility and Dynamic Type support
- Local persistence, caching, and offline behavior on the iOS side
- Networking layer integration using generated clients from the shared API specification
- The iOS test suite: unit tests, snapshot regression tests, and UI automation for critical paths
- Release readiness: TestFlight builds, crash triage, performance investigation
Required
- 6+ years of native iOS development in Swift, with shipped applications you can point to
- Strong SwiftUI, including the Observation framework (@Observable) and modern navigation with NavigationStack
- Swift 6 concurrency in production: async/await, structured concurrency, actors, Sendable, main-actor isolation — and the ability to explain why strict concurrency changes how you write code
- Working knowledge of UIKit and UIKit/SwiftUI interoperability for the cases SwiftUI does not cover well
- Persistence experience with SwiftData, Core Data, or a SQLite layer such as GRDB, including schema migration
- Swift Package Manager, including local packages for feature modularization
- Testing discipline: Swift Testing or XCTest, plus snapshot and UI testing
- Comfortable with Xcode 26 and the current App Store submission requirements, including code signing and provisioning
- Secure handling of sensitive user data: Keychain, biometric authentication, awareness of what must never reach logs or third-party analytics
Preferred
- Shipped against the iOS 26 design language
- Experience consuming generated API clients (swift-openapi-generator or similar)
- Push notification and deep link architecture, including notification-driven routing
- Performance profiling with Instruments; measurable improvements to startup or scroll performance
- Accessibility work beyond the defaults — VoiceOver, Dynamic Type at large sizes, reduced motion
- Prior experience on a rewrite or replatform where a legacy app stayed live during the transition
