Design Release Engineer – Transmissions & Driveline
Responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of automatic transmission and driveline systems/components. The role requires strong automotive engineering expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead projects from concept through production while working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, and release of transmission/driveline systems and components.
- Develop and execute DVP&R for component, system, bench, and vehicle validation.
- Collaborate with CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, manufacturing, and suppliers to deliver robust designs.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve design, performance, and field issues.
- Review and approve supplier designs and ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
- Develop and maintain DFMEA, DVP&R, SSTS/TTS, and engineering best practices.
- Drive design optimization, continuous improvement, and warranty cost reduction.
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers.
- Lead technical reviews and present design/project status to stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging transmission and driveline technologies.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of automotive engineering experience with hands-on experience in transmissions and/or driveline systems.
- Strong knowledge of components such as PTU, RDM, axles, transfer cases, differentials, gears, bearings, torque converters, and shifting systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with root cause analysis tools such as Fishbone, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, and Red X.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and project execution skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, DFSS/Green Belt.
- Experience with in-vehicle diagnosis and NVH evaluation.
- Working knowledge of CAE/CFD and CAD tools such as NX/CATIA.
- Experience translating system functions into technical requirements.
- Customer-focused, action-oriented, adaptable, and strong in problem solving.
Work Requirements

Pay: $42.00-$43.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
