Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Senior Data Scientist directs and carries out data-intensive research and development (R&D). The Senior Data Scientist is required to solve meaningful clinical problems and develop new decision-support tools by applying techniques and models from machine learning and computational statistics to large clinical datasets.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field and at least five (5) years of experience conducting data science research; OR
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a STEM-related field and at least three (3) years of experience conducting data science research.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated record of scholarly publications preferred.
- Previous experience with open-source software projects
- Familiarity with clinical domain
- Familiarity with information visualization concepts and tools
- Fluency in Python and Pandas
- Fluency in machine learning libraries (e.g., Keras, Theano, Sci-kit Learn)
- Familiarity with modern relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server)
- Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, NoSQL databases, etc.)
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, git)
- Passion for data science and keeping up to date on latest methods
Education/Licensure/Certification Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM field required.
Preferred:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related field preferred.
- Graduate-level coursework and/or research experience in machine learning, data mining, data visualization, statistics, artificial intelligence, probabilistic modeling, optimization, or related disciplines preferred.
