About The Role
In the Data Innovation Lab at AXA, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data and AI into tangible value. As part of an interdisciplinary team comprising data scientists, software engineers, and business experts, you will develop innovative AI solutions that drive the long-term transformation of our insurance business. Your primary focus will be on transitioning promising AI experiments into stable, production-ready systems, ensuring their reliable operation. Situated within the "AI Business Capabilities" unit, your work will involve close collaboration with various teams to bring MLOps, LLMOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) expertise into joint projects. Your contributions will directly impact core business processes by enabling scalable AI applications, optimizing operational workflows, and enhancing decision-making capabilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI and data-driven innovation in the insurance industry, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to create sustainable solutions.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess strong programming skills in Python, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI, Pydantic, Celery, Polars, PyTorch, and Transformers. A willingness to understand and integrate insurance processes into AI applications is essential for developing contextually relevant solutions. You should be committed to sustainable software development practices, including Test-Driven Development, Clean Code principles, code reviews, and proficient use of Git. Experience with deploying and operating AI systems in production environments using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud platforms such as AWS is highly desirable. Familiarity with MLOps and LLMOps practices, monitoring tools like Grafana and OTEL, and developing workflows based on large language models (LLMs) such as agent-based prompting strategies, Mlflow, and Langfuse will be advantageous. Additionally, experience in project initiation—from ideation through prototyping to stable operation—as well as knowledge of SQL and Typescript, will strengthen your application. A proactive mindset, analytical thinking, and the ability to connect technical expertise with business understanding are key attributes for this role.
Responsibilities
You will support project teams in the hands-on transition of AI experiments into production environments, directly influencing core business operations. Your role includes identifying commonalities across various AI applications and designing reusable software components, services, and infrastructure to streamline development efforts. Continuously exploring new topics and navigating complex IT landscapes, you will synthesize technical knowledge with business insights to craft practical, scalable solutions for operational units. Your responsibilities also encompass the operation, monitoring, and optimization of internally developed machine learning and AI applications, ensuring high availability and performance. This involves implementing monitoring systems, alert mechanisms, performance tuning, incident management, and site reliability practices. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve existing AI workflows and develop new solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Data Innovation Lab.
