Software Engineer — Backend / Full Stack Location: New York, NY Work Model: Hybrid — 4 days in office (Monday–Thursday), WFH Friday Employment: Full-time Salary: $180,000–$230,000 + Competitive Equity Visa: Open to OPT and H-1B transfers
About the Role We’re looking for Software Engineers with 2+ years of backend engineering experience to help build financial infrastructure powering billions of dollars in nonprofit payments.
You’ll own systems end-to-end—from architecture and implementation to production—while working closely with founders, product, and engineering leadership. This is a high-autonomy environment where strong technical judgment, clear communication, and a bias toward shipping are highly valued. What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and own scalable backend services and APIs.
- Contribute to architecture, engineering standards, and infrastructure decisions.
- Build reliable systems using Go, Node.js, PostgreSQL, REST, and gRPC.
- Develop and operate containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Improve monitoring, observability, and real-time alerting.
- Work across the platform rather than within a narrowly defined product silo.
- Collaborate directly with founders and leadership to solve complex technical problems.
What We’re Looking For Required:
- 2–10 years of professional backend/software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical field.
- Proven experience building and owning scalable backend systems end-to-end.
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working in a high-growth technology environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
- Ability to work onsite in NYC Monday–Thursday.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Go or Node.js.
- Experience with AWS, Terraform, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, or gRPC.
- Experience operating production systems in a cloud-native environment.
