Teaching Assistant in History of Science and Technology (Part-time)
Established in 1789, the University of King’s College is Canada’s oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. The History of Science and Technology (HOST) Program at the University of King’s College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in HSTC 2210F, “Engineering the Planet: the Anthropocene from pre-history to today’s climate crisis.” This course, delivered asynchronously, introduces undergraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds (sciences, humanities, engineering) to the key concepts, historical developments and applications in the contemporary world of the concept of the ‘Anthropocene.’
Duties Include But Not Limited To:
- reading course material and viewing pre-recorded lectures
- grading assignments and exams
- consulting on an occasional basis with the instructor regarding the approach taken in teaching, grading and other expectations
Qualifications And Experience
Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree, and a demonstrated ability to evaluate written work. Familiarity with fields such as history/philosophy of science and technology, environmental history, climate change science will be an asset, as will prior TA experience (at the university level).
Hourly Rate of Pay: $35.11/hr (classification of TA90). Position is conditional on the course’s final enrollment numbers.
