Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Report QA specialist to join a large-scale banking and capital markets transformation program, delivered from our Nearshore center in Poland.
You will be the quality gate for the program's reporting deliverables — validating that Power BI reports are complete, accurate, reconciled, and fit for business review. You will design and execute test scenarios covering DAX measures, filters, visuals, data lineage, and parallel-run comparison evidence, ensuring every published report can be trusted by business users, auditors, and regulators.
This is a hands-on QA specialist role for someone who combines rigorous data testing and reconciliation skills with deep Power BI and DAX validation expertise, and who thrives on providing defensible evidence of report quality.
Experience Required : 8+ years
Key Responsibilities
1. Report Validation & Quality Assurance
- Validate that reports are complete, accurate, reconciled, and fit for business review before release to stakeholders.
- Develop and execute test scenarios for Power BI reports covering:
- DAX measures — calculation correctness, filter context behavior, time intelligence logic
- Filters and slicers — expected filtering behavior, cross-filtering, drill-through accuracy
- Visuals — data binding correctness, sorting, conditional formatting, totals and subtotals
- Interactivity — tooltips, bookmarks, navigation, and responsive layout behavior
- Verify row-level security configurations and data access restrictions.
- Validate report performance characteristics — load times, query efficiency, and rendering consistency.
2. Source-to-Report Reconciliation
- Perform source-to-report reconciliation: validating that figures displayed in reports tie back to source system data, certified datasets, and semantic models.
- Conduct independent recalculation of key report figures using SQL queries, Excel analysis, or equivalent methods.
- Perform source-to-target data verification across data pipelines — ensuring staging, transformation, and load steps preserve data integrity.
- Identify, investigate, and document variances and anomalies between source data and report output.
3. Parallel-Run & Comparison Testing
- Design and execute parallel-run comparison evidence — systematically comparing legacy report outputs with new Power BI reports to identify breaks, differences, and expected variances.
- Document variance rationale: distinguishing between expected rounding differences, methodology changes, genuine data breaks, and calculation errors.
- Produce comparison evidence packs suitable for business review, UAT sign-off, and audit inspection.
4. DAX/KPI Validation
- Validate DAX measures against business-defined calculation logic and specifications.
- Verify KPI definitions, thresholds, targets, and aggregation logic against requirements documentation.
- Test edge cases and boundary conditions: zero values, nulls, negative values, date boundaries, currency conversions, and percentage calculations.
- Collaborate with Proxy Product Owners and Business Analysts to resolve ambiguous calculation logic before report publication.
5. Data Lineage & Traceability Validation
- Validate data lineage from source systems through certified datasets, semantic models, and final report visuals.
- Ensure requirements traceability: every report requirement is tested, every test maps to a requirement, and every defect is tracked to resolution.
- Verify that certified datasets and semantic models used in reports are the approved, governed versions.
6. UAT Support & Defect Management
- Support UAT planning and execution: preparing test scenarios, test data, and environment readiness for business user testing.
- Perform defect triage: severity classification, root cause analysis support, assignment coordination, and re-test validation.
- Maintain defect tracking in Azure DevOps (or equivalent),
Working Model & Logistics
- Base Location: Poland (you must be based in and legally authorized to work in Poland).
- Working Arrangement: Full Remote — no mandatory office presence. Occasional team meetups or client workshops may be arranged on a voluntary basis.
- Contract Type: B2B (Business-to-Business) — you will operate as an independent contractor or through a B2B arrangement with a Polish entity.
- Contract Duration: 6–9 months (short-term engagement with extension possibility).
- Client Time Zones: Primarily CET/CEST alignment.
- Equipment: Company-provided laptop and home office setup allowance.
We are awaiting for You! :)
