Ecommerce Manager

Location: Valencia, CA

Work Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Ecommerce Manager to oversee ecommerce website operations, digital customer experience, ecommerce technology, website projects, and online business initiatives.

This role will be responsible for ensuring website performance, reliability, usability, brand consistency, and successful execution of digital projects. The Ecommerce Manager will work closely with developers, agencies, vendors, marketing, operations, and other internal stakeholders to deliver an effective and high-performing online shopping experience.

The ideal candidate combines strong ecommerce, website operations, project management, UX/UI, analytics, and technical coordination skills. A technical background is important, but coding is not required.

The role also requires curiosity and willingness to explore AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and similar platforms to improve ecommerce operations, QA, reporting, documentation, workflows, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Ecommerce Website & Platform Management

- Manage day-to-day ecommerce website operations and digital systems.

- Oversee website updates, checkout functionality, payment settings, tracking, applications, integrations, and platform configurations.

- Coordinate with developers, agencies, designers, and internal teams to implement website enhancements and resolve issues.

- Monitor website performance, mobile responsiveness, usability, customer-facing bugs, and site reliability.

- Ensure the website remains user-friendly, mobile-optimized, visually consistent, and aligned with brand standards.

Ecommerce Project Management

- Lead ecommerce and website projects from planning through launch and post-launch review.

- Develop project briefs, requirements, timelines, QA plans, testing procedures, and launch plans.

- Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.

- Coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners.

- Manage priorities, risks, dependencies, budgets, approvals, and deliverables.

- Conduct pre-launch and post-launch testing to ensure successful implementation.

UX/UI & Customer Experience

- Apply UX/UI best practices to improve the online shopping experience.

- Identify and address friction points across navigation, product pages, forms, cart, checkout, mobile experience, page speed, and trust elements.

- Use analytics and customer-behavior tools to identify opportunities for improvement.

- Support A/B testing, landing-page optimization, checkout improvements, and mobile enhancements.

- Recommend data-driven improvements to increase usability, conversion, and customer satisfaction.

Visual Design & Brand Consistency

- Ensure website content and updates follow established brand guidelines.

- Review website pages, banners, forms, popups, imagery, and other digital assets before launch.

- Partner with creative and marketing teams to ensure accurate implementation.

- Identify visual inconsistencies and usability issues that may impact customer trust or conversion.

- Maintain a consistent experience across desktop and mobile platforms.

Ecommerce Technology & Integrations

- Serve as the business-side owner of ecommerce technology, website enhancements, and integrations.

- Maintain working knowledge of major ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud.

- Understand ecommerce integrations involving:

- APIs and tracking pixels

- ERP, OMS, and CRM systems

- Email/SMS platforms

- Loyalty and review platforms

- Search and subscription tools

- Customer service systems

- Apps, plugins, and data feeds

- Communicate effectively with developers and technical vendors and evaluate technical recommendations from a business perspective.

Analytics, Tracking & Reporting

- Monitor key ecommerce metrics including traffic, conversion rate, revenue, checkout performance, customer behavior, and campaign effectiveness.

- Work with tools such as GA4, Shopify Analytics, Looker Studio, Google Search Console, Hotjar, and Microsoft Clarity.

- Ensure pixels, UTMs, conversion events, and tracking systems are functioning correctly.

- Identify data gaps and coordinate technical solutions.

- Prepare performance reports and provide actionable recommendations.

AI & Workflow Optimization

- Explore practical applications of AI and LLM tools to improve ecommerce productivity and operations.

- Use AI to support documentation, research, QA, planning, reporting, troubleshooting, and process development.

- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve team efficiency.

- Evaluate AI-generated information with sound judgment and awareness of its limitations.

- Stay curious about emerging AI tools and ecommerce technologies.

Digital Marketing Support

- Partner with marketing teams to ensure landing pages, forms, tracking, checkout flows, and campaign assets function properly.

- Support digital campaign execution from a website, UX, analytics, and technical perspective.

- Understand how website performance and customer experience affect marketing results.

- Marketing expertise is helpful but not required.

Vendor, Agency & Developer Management

- Manage relationships with ecommerce agencies, developers, SaaS providers, platform support teams, and vendors.

- Review project scopes, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and launch requirements.

- Hold external partners accountable for quality, documentation, QA, communication, and deadlines.

- Translate business requirements into clear technical and vendor specifications.

- Escalate issues when expectations or deliverables are not met.

Ecommerce Operations & Troubleshooting

- Coordinate resolution of issues involving checkout, payments, shipping, taxes, customer accounts, integrations, tracking, and website functionality.

- Work cross-functionally with operations, finance, customer service, marketing, and technical teams during incidents.

- Maintain platform documentation, troubleshooting guides, QA procedures, and configuration records.

- Respond quickly to customer-facing issues that could negatively impact sales or the online experience.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in ecommerce, digital commerce, website operations, or ecommerce project management.

- Proven experience managing ecommerce websites and digital projects.

- Experience working with major ecommerce platforms.

- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.

- Experience with QA, testing, launch planning, and post-launch support.

- Working knowledge of ecommerce technologies, integrations, analytics, tracking, and checkout systems.

- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and digital customer experience.

- Experience with website analytics and customer-behavior tracking tools.

- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Interest in AI tools and using technology to improve workflows and productivity.

- Coding experience is not required, but familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript concepts is highly desirable.
