About the Opportunity
micro1 is seeking experienced Reporters & Correspondents to contribute to projects involving document-based research, fact verification, investigative analysis, and structured news writing.
This role is ideal for journalists, reporters, correspondents, and research-driven writers who excel at transforming complex information into accurate, clear, and engaging narratives. You'll apply your expertise in research, source verification, and journalistic storytelling to evaluate information, develop content, and support high-quality editorial workflows.
Your work will help improve the quality, accuracy, and reliability of information-driven content and research processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and synthesize information from reports, public records, research papers, and other source materials.
- Conduct thorough source verification and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and credibility.
- Create well-structured articles, summaries, and reports using established journalistic formats.
- Apply narrative techniques such as lead writing, inverted pyramid structure, and evidence-based reporting.
- Distill complex topics into clear, concise, and accessible content.
- Review and evaluate written materials for factual accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Document research methodologies and maintain citation trails for transparency.
- Collaborate with editors, researchers, and project stakeholders to improve content quality.
- Deliver clear written explanations and structured reporting on findings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a Reporter, Correspondent, Journalist, Research Writer, or similar role.
- Strong expertise in document-based research and information gathering.
- Proven experience with source verification, fact-checking, and evidence-based reporting.
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into structured and engaging narratives.
- Strong understanding of journalistic writing principles, including lead development and inverted pyramid structure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple research and writing assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in investigative journalism, business reporting, science reporting, policy reporting, or other research-intensive beats.
- Familiarity with public records research and data-driven reporting.
- Experience reviewing lengthy reports, legal documents, financial filings, or research publications.
- Knowledge of editorial standards, source attribution, and media ethics.
- Experience working remotely with editorial or research teams.
- Background in digital publishing, content strategy, or newsroom operations.
