About The Role

Company: BMC Title: GIS Data Scientist As an advisor at BMC – Data and Services, you play a crucial role in developing advanced data solutions and promoting the responsible use of machine learning, data science, and AI—both for interesting clients and cross-domain initiatives within BMC. At BMC, we believe that expertise supported by data leads to the best insights and advice. We identify where data and robust infrastructure can streamline processes and generate new insights. Within the public sector, key challenges include the energy transition, climate adaptation, and the housing shortage—all of which involve spatial distribution as a central factor. GIS technology enables us to assess the implications of various solution scenarios in a spatially integrated way, supporting well-considered decisions. To further strengthen our team of data advisors, we are looking for an advisor with GIS experience who is not only technically proficient in GIS and data science techniques, but also has experience or affinity with the physical domain (e.g., infrastructure, environment, spatial planning). As a GIS advisor at BMC, you will be deployed on interesting assignments for various clients. In addition, you will collaborate with our team of dedicated data advisors to help evolve our GIS solutions and actively contribute to raising awareness among colleagues about the effective use of GIS. You will be able to provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions about the deployment and use of data products. Requirements You hold a WO (research university) degree in a relevant field, such as Geo-informatics or Data Science. You have at least 5 years of experience with ArcGIS (Pro, Enterprise, Online) and FME (tooling, server, flow). You are proficient in programming (Python or R), or are willing to further develop your skills in this area. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team is preferred. You have worked in recent years for a municipality, ministry, government agency, or similar organization (preferred). You have hands-on experience in the physical domain, preferably related to one or more of the following challenges: energy transition, climate adaptation, and/or housing shortage. Terms of Employment Permanent appointment at BMC for 32–40 hours per week, with flexible working hours. We offer: - Salary based on your knowledge and experience (€4,700 to €6,500 gross per month on a 40-hour basis). - Individual Choice Budget (11.04% of monthly salary added monthly, including 8% holiday allowance). - 36 vacation days per year, of which a portion is flexible (IKB) based on a 40-hour week. - Company car with charging pass or mobility budget. - Choose-your-own-phone scheme. - Laptop. - Fixed expense allowance. - Pension scheme. - Ample opportunities for personal development within your contracted hours. - Collaboration with enthusiastic colleagues with diverse expertise.
