Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MES Solution Architect with strong expertise in Siemens Opcenter (Camstar) to design, architect, integrate, and support enterprise manufacturing execution solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of MES architecture, manufacturing systems integration, software development, and manufacturing domain expertise.
The role will focus on defining scalable MES architectures and integrating Siemens Opcenter with ERP, APS, equipment controls, automation systems, and other manufacturing applications. Experience in electronics manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and deployment of Siemens Opcenter/Camstar MES solutions.
- Define end-to-end MES architecture aligned with manufacturing, business, and IT requirements.
- Translate manufacturing processes and business requirements into scalable and maintainable MES solutions.
- Design and implement integrations between Siemens Opcenter/Camstar, ERP, APS, PLM, SCADA, PLC/equipment controls, databases, and other enterprise systems.
- Develop solution architecture, technical specifications, interface definitions, data flows, and integration strategies.
- Configure and customize Opcenter Portal and Portal Studio to support manufacturing workflows and user requirements.
- Evaluate and leverage additional Siemens Opcenter modules/products where appropriate.
- Provide technical leadership throughout MES implementation, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Develop and review custom MES applications and extensions using .NET, C#, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Design database structures, queries, stored procedures, and data-access solutions supporting MES functionality.
- Develop and support APIs, web services, middleware, and system interfaces required for MES integrations.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, automation, IT, and business stakeholders to define technical solutions.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend MES improvements, automation opportunities, and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Ensure MES solutions support traceability, genealogy, production execution, quality, work-in-process, material management, and reporting requirements.
- Establish technical standards, architecture patterns, development practices, and integration guidelines.
- Perform technical reviews and provide architectural guidance to MES developers and implementation teams.
- Troubleshoot complex MES, application, database, and integration issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Support system validation, performance testing, deployment planning, and production readiness activities.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Document architecture decisions, configurations, interfaces, workflows, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical mentorship and knowledge transfer to MES engineering and support teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Siemens Opcenter MES / Camstar.
- Proven experience designing and deploying enterprise MES solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Opcenter Portal / Portal Studio.
- Experience integrating MES with:
- ERP systems
- APS / planning systems
- PLM systems
- PLCs and equipment controls
- SCADA / automation systems
- Databases and enterprise applications
- Strong programming experience with C# and .NET.
- Strong JavaScript development experience.
- Strong SQL/database development and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with APIs, web services, system interfaces, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing execution processes and shop-floor operations.
- Ability to create solution architecture, technical designs, integration specifications, and data-flow diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and manufacturing stakeholders.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with additional Siemens Opcenter products/modules.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or high-volume discrete manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of production traceability, genealogy, WIP, material tracking, quality, and production reporting.
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, automation, and industrial equipment interfaces.
- Experience with manufacturing data models and shop-floor connectivity.
- Knowledge of modern web technologies and enterprise application architectures.
- Experience with cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, or containerized application environments.
- Experience leading global MES implementations or multi-site manufacturing deployments.
