Lead Software Engineer | C# / React / Azure | Up to £90k | Remote-First
Remote-first, with a maximum of once a quarter in the Greater Manchester office
An established SaaS company based in Greater Manchester is looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of one of its engineering teams.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll still code and stay close to technical delivery, while leading and developing Software Engineers and helping shape the technical direction of the platform.
The biggest sell here is the engineering culture. They operate at a very high engineering standard and genuinely care about architecture, clean code, testing, CI/CD, scalability and building software properly. They want engineers who geek out about their craft, challenge ideas and are always looking for better ways to build.
The platform is also in a strong place technically, with very little technical debt, so you’re not joining to spend the next few years fixing legacy problems.
They’re particularly big on Azure, working with Azure Functions, Service Bus, Blob Storage and Azure Apps, alongside:
C# / .NET | React | SQL Server | REST APIs | Azure | CI/CD
AI is another big focus, but engineering fundamentals come first. They see AI more as a pair programmer, using it to make good engineers more productive rather than relying on it to do the engineering for them. Engineering fundamentals come first here.
You’ll have plenty of technical ownership and influence, from architecture and design decisions through to engineering standards, while mentoring and developing the engineers around you.
They’re looking for someone who has already led and developed Software Engineers, but still loves engineering and wants to remain hands-on rather than moving into pure management.
