Manufacturing Engineer II
Location: Dubuque, IA
Duration: 12 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze manufacturing requirements and establish production methods, process flows, machinery, tooling, and equipment needed to support manufacturing operations.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
- Design and validate engineering solutions through feasibility studies, testing, and process evaluations.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Review manufacturing systems, equipment, installations, and engineering work to ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and drive corrective actions through structured continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners to support project execution and engineering deliverables.
- Provide manufacturing engineering support for product development initiatives by translating customer and business requirements into practical production solutions.
- Manage assigned engineering projects and activities while adhering to established timelines, budgets, and performance objectives.
- Deliver technical guidance and support to team members, helping drive effective use of engineering tools, systems, and knowledge-management resources.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing engineering with exposure to machining, sheet metal fabrication, tooling, production equipment, or related manufacturing environments.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, test, and optimize manufacturing processes and engineering solutions.
- Experience interpreting, preparing, and applying technical engineering specifications and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex technical situations and make sound decisions.
- Effective project planning, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to make timely decisions and maintain accountability for project commitments and deliverables.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, regulatory requirements, and risk-management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with production teams, engineering groups, suppliers, contractors, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing, implementing, or improving machining, sheet metal, tooling, or related manufacturing processes.
- Proven track record of troubleshooting operational challenges and implementing practical, results-driven engineering solutions.
- Experience coordinating engineering activities with suppliers, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of feasibility testing, process validation, and engineering evaluation methodologies.
- Ability to create clear and comprehensive technical documentation, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Familiarity with project management, contract administration, cost analysis, and budgeting principles.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience identifying process inefficiencies and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, and manufacturing engineering experience.
