As the organisation continues to evolve, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Company Secretary to join the UK Corporate Governance Office.
This is a high-profile role providing governance support at Board and subsidiary board level, offering direct exposure to senior executives, Board members and key strategic decision-making.

The Opportunity
As Assistant Company Secretary, you'll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing governance standards across the organisation. You'll provide expert advice on governance and statutory compliance, support Board and Committee activities and help ensure the business continues to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
This position offers the opportunity to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders while contributing to strategic governance initiatives across a large and highly regulated organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end governance process for a Board Committee and multiple subsidiary boards and committees.
- Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare agendas and papers, attend meetings, produce high-quality minutes and track actions.
- Take ownership of a portfolio of subsidiary legal entities.
- Support implementation and ongoing compliance with the Subsidiary Governance Framework.
- Contribute to the Annual Report and Financial Statements programme.
- Provide expert advice on: Corporate governance best practice, Companies Act 2006 requirements, Regulatory and statutory compliance matters, Internal governance policies and frameworks, Emerging legislative and regulatory developments
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Board members, senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Support and develop junior members of the Corporate Governance team, including line management responsibilities where applicable.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Strong corporate governance experience within a company secretariat or governance function.
- Practical knowledge of: Companies Act 2006, UK Corporate Governance Code, PRA/FCA governance requirements, UK listing and regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting Board-level Committees.
- Experience operating within a regulated environment, ideally financial services.
- Experience contributing to Annual Reports and Financial Statements processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with confidence engaging senior leadership and Board members.

- Hybrid working model: 3 days per week in our London office
- Competitive base salary up to £85,000, depending on experience
