Backend Infrastructure Engineer — Build the Core Platform (0→1)
Dumbo, Brooklyn | $150–220k | Seed‑Stage (4m) | Onsite
We’re hiring a Backend Infrastructure Engineer who wants to build a platform from the ground up, not maintain one. This is a high‑agency role as one of our first engineering hires, owning the architecture, reliability, and scaling their core enterprise infrastructure.
Our clients product is the context layer for human work: multi‑tenant deployments, 800M+ data rows, and a rapidly expanding customer footprint. We need someone who has built foundational systems before and can make architectural decisions that define the platform for years.
What you will own
- Architecting and scaling our AWS‑based infrastructure for rapid customer growth
- Designing and maintaining multi‑tenant deployment patterns: permissioning, isolation, redeployability
- Owning our infrastructure‑as‑code layer (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker) and setting standards for reliability and scale
- Building new backend capabilities as signal comes in from enterprise design partners
- Turning bespoke customer deployment learnings into reusable platform primitives
- Making foundational architectural decisions in a zero‑guardrail, early‑stage environment
What we’re looking for
- 3–6+ years building production infrastructure, not just operating it
- Proven 0→1 platform experience designing systems, not only maintaining them
- Deep AWS experience with containerized, distributed systems (Kubernetes, Fargate, EKS)
- Hands‑on multi‑tenant architecture: isolation, rate‑limiting, identity, data boundaries
- Terraform or equivalent IaC expertise with strong architectural judgment
- End‑to‑end ownership of backend systems in high‑agency environments
- A genuine, conversational communicator, we value clarity over scripts
- CS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical background
Tech stack:
AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Python, TypeScript, LangChain
